Hi. I ran my T4 1.9 non turbo on veg oil, but wondered what you guys drive using this as well. I'm not going to put it in my current 3.0 cdti but with the cost of fuel slowly rising back up to the £1.50 mark, I'm going to have to make the choice of selling it and getting something much more economical

Ran my Mercedes 1987 C250td on veg oil for a good few years. Worked fine for most of the year but did have to go back to diluting the veg oil with diesel during the colder months. No issues what so ever apart from constantly craving chips after driving the car due to the exhaust odor. Did change the fuel filter more frequently just to be on the safe side. They were pretty much the only downsides.
I bought the car with really low mileage and took it to over 120,000 miles. Bloke who bought it from me is still using it everyday & it now has nearer 200,000 miles on it now.

Cheapest I can find is about 1.15 a litre which is not that much cheaper than diesel. And aren't you meant to get less mpg with veg oil?
Doesn't seem much of a saving.

It's roughly a quid a litre cheapest now unless you drop on a special offer.

Avoid using in any engine that uses unit injectors such as VAG PD

Do you have a local Costco? It's usually cheap in there for the 20l drums.

Or strain your own. Ask a freindly chipshop for their used oil. Strain it all yourself and change your fuel filter more regularly

not seen diesel at 1.50?!
its 1.28 here in south wales, I doubt an old diesel vehicle would match the economy and refinement of most moderns that cant run on veg nowadays.

Ran a Landrover Ninety 2.5TD on veg oil for a few years. Always made me hungry… Ran mine on this for a while as well, never pure veg but a mix and always in the summer. Never gave me any real problems. I used to buy mine from a wholesaler, used to work out at about 80p per lite. Don’t know what their prices are like now. Super markets usually do the KTC stuff at £5 per 5l however have heard mixed reviews about the stuff.

Virtually any pre-HDi pug/citroen Needs the Bosch fuel pump, the Lucas ones don't like it.

Ran a W124 diesel estate for a while on a 50:50 mix. It became more difficult to start. This was when vegetable oil was 35p a litre. It then seemed to go up to 99p overnight and didn't seem worth the faff and the risk of not starting.
I remember the funny looks buying 50 x 1 litre bottles and the funnier looks pouring them in the tank one by one in the supermarket carpark.
