Thanks for the input on the arrows, looks like lowering first is the way forward. Should've known 😂 My only issue is by how much? 25, 30, and 40mm drop springs are readily available and not very expensive. I've seen some Roadsters with the 40mm drop and spacers on Spikelines and they look just right but I'm concerned about driveability. I don't want to not enjoy driving this as it's honestly the most fun car to drive. I don't want to spoil it - but at same time I know how good it'll look with a lowering. I have fond memories of these cars. My dad had one... oh, 15 years ago. He had some 40mm springs (KAW, I believe) and some spacers in it. was a pretty neat little car. He didn't have any real issues with driveability. The short wheelbase actually quite helps in this case. That's good to hear! Still waiting on the springs to arrive - got the spacers here waiting. Wish they'd hurry the heck up!

First I've spotted this! For starters, have a fist-bump for changing jobs. I did the same last year. I've been keeping an eye out for these too. They're so quirky and look like good honest fun. Nice work! Cheers mate - changing jobs was the best decision I've made in years. Such an instant and lasting sense of relief. They are so much fun!

I'm still waiting on the springs to arrive from Germany so I've been trying to distract myself doing little bits: The grey leather was worn and I wasn't a fan of the grey/silver. Bought a new black leather bound one with a black top. Pleased with the look 👍 Hurry up, springs!

To keep you in the loop - the springs arrived so I had a go. VERY seized nuts all over the show... Guess they've not been removed in nearly 20 years as it only has circa 50k on it. The strut top ones were particularly bad so I've bought an impact wrench. Hoping to tackle it again over the weekend. A plus point of all this is that I've dailied the Eunos track car for a week which had been a laugh! Also, my LED plate bulbs arrived. Originals were horrible looking and I figures it'd be interesting illuminating the '4d' plates. 18 LEDs per bulb may be overkill slightly??!

Lowered! 40mm drop, 20mm spacers at the front and 25mm at the back. Relatively straight forward except I had to buy myself an impact wrench to get the struts apart. I also left my strut clamp on the strut and was very confused when the car was higher than standard! It rides really well - it might be because I've dailied my Eunos track car whist the Smart's been off the road and this is smoother 😂 Either way - made up!

Looks great! Always blows me away how much a fairly small drop and slightly more aggressive wheel fitment transforms a car. It makes ne wonder what the OEMs are thinking jacking them up so high and tucking the wheels in.

The designers have a vision then the some other people come along and make it more acceptable for the main stream public... At least it means we have more thinks to fettle with 😂

I honestly feel like someone should be there at the end of the assembly line and their job is to slam the car and move the wheels

Mate Michael once told me it probably was considered as a girls car and some of them might get pregnant at some point. I doubt that, but the standard puma was ridiculously high. If Ford at least had offered a lower option. But leaving it all to the after market experts - strange!

I've recently picked up a Puma with some basic mods already fitted - surprise surprise it's wider 7J wheels and coilovers to drop the height! Back on topic, the Smart is looking well now I have to say.

Thoughts on a rear spoiler.. yay or nay?

Just caught up here.
Your impact you will find, suddenly becomes a load more useful.
I bought mine 9 years or so, ago and it was for the C10 iirc and it had done all sorts of jobs since then.
Anything to loosen or tighten
Though it is a heavy, corded Clarke with no torque settings, I just stay cautious when going in either direction.
Your car is really evolving nicely.
The drop will make people look twice, as it is not overpowering.

Thoughts on a rear spoiler.. yay or nay? I think yours looks spot on where you've got it,and for me at least, that type of spoiler is a bit Maxpower. Please bare in mind that I daily an ugly bug Multipla as well as having a 2cv, so my opinions on style are questionable!

Have to agree Dave, In my opinion you have it looking excellent as it is and that spoiler would indeed spoil it, But, your car, your decision, Nigel
