Just blanking off the EGR will definitely put the EML on. Maybe not instantly, but soon. I’m experimenting with holes in the blanking plate. Our Skoda (105 horse) is working fine with 8mm. Our A4 (130 horse) is still putting the EML on occasionally with 7mm. It seems they can measure the airflow drop caused by the EGR and get upset if out of range. Mapped out altogether would be preferable.
EGR is to reduce NOx emissions, but at the expense of mpg (CO2 emissions!) and filling the engine with soot. Turbo with run hotter without too.

I got it as part of a semi generic but safe map from Blacksmoke Remaps, who no longer trade afaik. You can get a delete pipe but not sure if there are any MOT ramifications, no eml as that generally only comes on when the egr gets full of diesely crud, literally tar build up. You can lock them off in the open position. There is a valve N75 (not sure it was some time ago) that needs a vacuum blanking off. There's loads of info on tinterweb for such things. I was on the uk-mkiv forum where there was lots about buggering around with the PD lumps. Early engines had an issue with the hydraulic lifters but these were upgraded by the time of your car for 'black top' hardened versions. Advantages on the egr delete is that you don't get the crud build up so no limp mode when the engine can't breathe properly, no downsides at all. Also don't be tempted to use veg oil in a PD lump, the unit injectors don't like it and they are a b'stard job to get out and service. Have a random PD picture for my blatherings

I think it's too small and a bit too "dub", and I love vws. Exactly what I don't want. Nice colour coded roof box I think needs to happen

Fadr (a company online) will supply you with an ecu, delete the EGR, van incorperate the vac simplify, add a hard limiter, porn corn mod and launch control.
Iirc pre 2003 blanking the EGR didn't throw a light but I'm unsure what month/vin from and to etc. Post 2003 definitely threw a light in my experience.
You can get cheap decats (dummy cat pipe) on ebay for about £65 quid.
There's a few breakers on Facebook B5.5 groups if you're after anything.

Went to drop the coilovers on the front a bit. Did the drivers side first, no probs at all. Passenger side on the other hand has had a Cave man at them 🙄

Quick wash (local £5 hand car wash) on the way to the swap meet on Sunday. Loved the pampas grass. Also bought this (the beacon), saw one in some crazy JDM car once, thought why not.

Do you need a replacement coilover or just the adjuster collars? I have some decent adjuster collars removed from FK coilovers, but I have no idea if they are the right size.
