I've got a 1996 Peugeot 406 saloon with the 1.9 XUDT engine. It's got a Bosch fuel system so copes well with veg oil. It's the Executive model so has very 90s beige leather seats front and back, AC (working), CD player, electric windows all round etc.
It's in ok condition overall. Has it's fair share of scrapes and dings but no major damage. It had some welding just in front of the nearside rear wheel arch a couple of years ago. The lacquer is peeling a little and I've siliconed the sunroof shut as it was leaking.
Mechanically it has a parade of niggly stuff but nothing that stops it being usable -
I think the rad needs flushing as on a hot day with the AC on on the motorway the temperature needle starts to climb. It never overheats but runs hotter than it should.
There is a very slight water leak from the pipes going to the heater. They are tucked between the engine and the bulkhead and are sods to get to. So I haven't bothered. Needs topping up every few hundred miles.
The fast idle thing needs replacing so the idle is currently a little too high.
I replaced the heater plug relay with one from an HDI. It works fine with cold starts but needs cycling a couple of times for warm starts. Plus I think one or two heater plugs are dodgy as it coughs and splutters a little on cold days. But it always starts.
The car currently lives abroad and the MOT expired a while ago. I'm looking for some idea of what I might get for it to decide whether it's worth bringing back to the UK.
Thanks!
