The wife and I bought a caravan from a friend that lost her husband during lockdown and I need advice on towing limits.
The caravan in road trim weighs 840kg, with a max loaded weight of 1060kg.
I need to get a tow bar fitted to one of our vehicles to tow it, but due to having my license revoked about 15 years ago I lost my grandfather rights to drive up to 7.5t
I have a Volvo v50 2.0d that is one option, and also have a Mercedes Vito 109 lwb as another, but my father in law has offered to give us his Mitsubishi shogun 3.2 di-d lwb which already has a tow bar fitted.
Am I right in thinking the overall train weight would be taken as the weight of caravan at 1060kg + maximum loaded weight of shogun (I can only find max laden weight of swb at 2654kg) which would be too heavy for my license?
