right bit off a long shot here but any help is appreciated i found a 1965viva ha sl in a barn that comes with no v5 so i sent off a v62 application for a registration certificate and several pictures and a signed letter from the vauxhall viva owners club ( and a cheque for £25 which they didn’t return ) i got everything back from them and i now have a generic letter from the dva saying to use a v55/5 and pay £55 ( which is also stating it’s first vehicle tax any help in filling out as i don’t want to loose the classic/historic car status picture of said car as penance

Without wishing to be a doom-monger, the DVLA appear to be acting about a thousand and one times more useless than normal at the moment. Is anyone else finding this? I've recently been trying to get my old motorbike registered on its correct year. It was imported from the US sometime in the late 90's, and for some reason issued with a plate around five years newer than its build. I thought that given the fortunate position that watertight proof of age was available (often the hard bit, especially with a defunct manufacturer), this would be do-able. Apparently though, Owners club endorsement, A letter from the Factory Archive in Germany, detailed photographs, a current V5 & MOT, a completed V55/5 and all the fees weren't enough. They sat on it for three months prior to just throwing it straight back (minus all my f*ing paperwork and cheques of course) with a very vague "NO" letter: I don't know which of the two is more annoying frankly. Really hope you can get some sort of sense out of them ref your Viva, that looks to me like a most useful guide from the VHRA. Good luck with the restoration

I complained 25 yrs ago that they had made my 16V integrale look unique by registering the year before they starting making them.
Four years ago I complained they had aged my 2016 Dodge Challenger by a year - original title docs, bill of sale, original owners loan docs, state initial smog checks, and certified legal title history, a full on legal doc in the USA . . . all invalid to prove it's age apparently . . .
