I thought all the backpacker cars were WA or SA just because they start over that side, drive across to experience it, and then stay on the east coast because that's where all the fun is. My pathfinder came with its fair share of red dirt from the trip over. *I guess I don't notice the QLD rego backpackers because they're generally in another state.

You don't need a nsw license as we're still on our UK ones as we're on temporary visas. I think NSW is the only one that needs a pink slip (mot) every year so that's why nobody who's touring wants their car registered there. We had to have a pink slip done up in FNQ for our NSW car and didn't realise the different states don't talk to each other. It was only when we came to renew the rego that we were told it had no valid pink slip. Luckily they were understanding and accepted an email of it. I think that was only down to Covid though or maybe they're not w@nkers like the DVLA.

BUDGET $300 FOR A ROADWORTHY TEST, REGO IS 3 MONTHS MINIMUM AND IS $187, PLUS ANY REPAIRS NEEDED. LABOUR AT MOST GARAGES IS $100 P\H AND MOAST PL;ACES NEAR ME ARE BOOEKD OUT FOR 2-4 WEEKS.
VN COMMODORES ARE PULLING $4K PLUS FOR ANY BASE MODEL V6 WORTH BUYING. V8S ARE $7K UP FOR A RESTO PROJECT, they're NOW A COLLECTORS CAR. BA FALCONS ARE USUALLY THRASHED AND IN NEED OF SERIOUS WORK. THE DAYS OF BUYING A SUB $1K CAR AND GTETTING IT ON THE ROAD FOR SUB $2K ARE LONG GONE.
I PAID $500 FOR MY 88 VOLVO 240, AND SPENT $3K GETTING IT RWC.
HAVE YOU GOT A SHIPPING QUOTE? I WAS QUOTED $9K TO SHIP A VAUXHALL NOVA OUT HERE IN APRIL. UNLESS YOUR HERE FOR 6 MONTHS PLUS IT ISNT WORTH IT.
