Not being a tesla fan boi I'm not keeping too close of an eye on it... but I seem to remember it was free to charge in the early days but I know now it definitely costs something to use those shiny new chargers that are springing up everywhere.

reminds me of the Dartford Crossing... which was meant to be free to use after the first 10 years. Hmm, instead it shot up from 80p to £2.50

It's also reminiscent of the massive rip-off that are the things you used to buy once and own becoming subscription services charged monthly. Cheap initially and a low monthly price to own (rent) something which got more and more expensive.
