In 2 minds about this, but I have too many vehicles and too many projects so this has fallen to the bottom of the list. Here goes...
1996 Daihatsu Hijet
1.0l CB42 engine (same as Piaggio Porter)
Recent MOT fail (details below)
4 seats, sips petrol, will cruise happily at 60-65mph (just not on a windy day)
Only 56k on the clock
You can read about it in my megathread here:
forum.retro-rides.org/thread/216257/paul-misadventures-piece-brake?page=8
The GOOD:
Has had a wealth of new parts in the last year:
Tyres all round
New stainless exhaust for a throaty roar and more hrsprs
New fuel pump, fuel filter
Bluetooth stereo & new speakers
Throttle position sensor
Coolant temperature sensor
Plugs & leads
Rotor arm
Oil & oil filter
Thermostat
Air filter
Lambda sensor
The BAD (and I'll be as comprehensive as possible here)
Failed MOT - needs new headlights (the ones fitted are bloody awful eBay LED units with no beam pattern at all - not my fault - and you can pick up one-size-fits-all units for about £40), new fog lamp bulb, and emissions investigating. Garage seemed to think the Lambda I fitted could be wrong - OEM ones are unobtanium so I fitted a universal one that might not be universal after all.
Other issues I'm aware of:
Idle seems to be a bit high - haven't investigated that either
Sunroof leaks (of course it does)
Speedo died recently - yup, haven't investigates
Fuel gauge temperamental. Keep it topped up and she's fine but below 1/4 tank it just sits on 'E'
As noted on MOT the rear brake lines are a little crusty, and it has had some rust repair in the past. Remarkably solid compared to many I've seen.
Driver's side window likes to drop out of the runner sometimes - I just push it up by hand and be on my way.
So in summary a fun little JDMYO! wagon that genuinely turns heads and just needs some love.
Will throw a bucket over her and take more pictures ASAP.
Located nr. Stansted, Essex - let the tyre kicking and teeth sucking begin at £950.
