I am in two minds whether to sell my W124. I've had it for over 4 years, I've spent a lot of time and money making it what it is but I have other itches to scratch and could do with space in my garage.
You could be the proud of owner of this:

The facts are:
1991 Mercedes Benz 200E, 5 speed manual
147k miles
MoT until 18th March 2023 (no advisories)
History:
I am the fourth owner. The second and third owner were husband and wife, who kept the car for almost 20 years.
V5 in my name.
Spec:
All the usual stuff like power steering and ABS as well as electric front windows, central locking, electric nearside mirror, electric sunroof, MB-tex interior, which were options when new.
Bodywork:
It's rust-free. I've had all corrosion cut out and new panels welded in. One small rust hole in the windscreen pillar was smoother out with filler whilst the windscreen was out (and replaced). Front wings were replaced a couple of years ago. Underside is clean and has been fully rust proofed.
Paint is shiny but it's 31 years old and there is some patina. For example, viewed from a low angle, you can see hairline cracking along a section of bonnet where the exhaust manifold has cracked the paint. The paint shines, the car looks great but is not perfect.
Wheels:
Original steel wheels and hub caps, all in good condition. Tyres are half-worn matching Continentals all round. Spare is good.
Comes with a spare set of four wheels, in as new condition but with worn tyres.
Interior:
In amazing condition. No rips or tears, the MB-Tex doesn't show any wear. The driver's seat is like new.
Everything works as it should.
Will come with a Kenwood aux-in head unit. All four speakers have been upgraded. The original aerial was broken and has been removed. The aerial mounting has been capped. I listen to radio via the aux-in socket connected to my iPhone.
Comes with original first aid kit, warning triangle and tools. Boot is nice and tidy.
Engine:
Runs sweet, with no overheating, no smoking, pulls well. I've regularly changed the oil and filter and it's had a new water pump and belt tensioner in my custody.
I've replaced the original electro-magnetic fan with an electric fan. The original fan comes with the car and the installation can be reversed in 10 minutes, not that you would want to.
Gearbox:
I had the gearbox replaced with a good used unit a couple of years ago. It had new oil at the same time.
I recently cleaned up the selector mechanism, which has improved the shift quality but, like all W124s, it's a mechanism that does not like to be rushed.
Clutch biting point is nice and low, clutch bites with no judder. Clutch master cylinder was recently replaced.
Suspension:
Silent, no knocking or banging. In my ownership it's had new front lower wishbones, front top mounts, four new shock absorbers and front ARB bushes.
Brakes:
All good, discs are fine and pads are half worn.
Comes with a set of new front and rear brake pads.
Exhaust:
Brand new from the cat back, including all new mounting rubbers.
Summary:
It's a proper, classic 31 year old Mercedes Benz. It looks great, drives great, it's rust free and has had a lot of TLC from me over the years. You can use it daily or save it for special days, enjoy it how it is or spend more to make it better, the choice is yours.
Price:
£2,500 firm. No offers please. I've spent a lot more on it and good W124s are going up in value.
If it sells, it sells. If it doesn't sell, I will keep it.
I'm located near Beaconsfield, 5 mins from M40 J3.
I've probably missed out a lot. Please read the whole story in the link provided above or drop me a PM if you have any questions.
