A change of plan so my long nose/LWB, low mileage/owner VGC Caravelle is up for sale.
In the 7mths I've owned it (VW mechanic 35yrs arrr) a lot of work & money has been spent to bring it back up to date & improve it.
In brief :
Engine bay :
Cam belt Kit, on 5cly engines there are X2 belts & X3 tensioners. New water pump & Alternator/aux belt.
Both Cam shaft seals have been replaced.
Service: Oil, Oil filter, air filter, fuel filter & pollen filter.
All vacuum pipes replaced (lots of them)
Coolant system flushed .. fresh G13
New Alternator & New Battery.
The inlet manifold/turbo & EGR valve (now blanked) were removed and cleaned of 20yrs of gunk.
A Remapped ECU is now fitted .. so from 88 brake to 110 BHP
.. not only does this increase power but mpg. The ECU is unlocked (no coded) which helps if there are any future issues.
The main hand brake cable was replaced along with X6 flexi hoses & solid pipes where required. The brake system was pressure flushed and new fluid added.
All 4 drive shaft gaiters & both steering rack gaiters are new.
It had never been welded, which is quite remarkable for a T4 ..
but did require welding to the N/S rear inner tub & corner along with a few other small areas.
The original T4 15inch rusty steel rims & worn tyre's had to go, so I decided on an upgrade, brought a set of adaptor plates & bolts so I could fit a set of Genuine 16inch T5 Caravelle Alloys.
These have Dunlop SP Sport 235/60/16 all round (spare is the same)
Being a larger diameter gives a taller gearing, a more comfortable ride, as well as aesthetically looking the part !
Exhaust/clutch & tyres are all in gc. The 5spd gear box select smoothly with no issues.
Both number plates are new .. it looks like at some point it was registered with private plates !!
New wiper blades & driver dr mirror .. probably loads more parts & jobs .. arrrr
The cab area unmolested/stock, even has it's VW Gamma Cassette/stereo. Everything in here works as it should.
There are 8 belted seats (not inc driver) all in vgc, overall the rear is in gc with only light wear & tear.
All rear seats are removable, so you can make what ever configuration you like & has a multitude of different uses ! When there all removed it's like a tardis !
Bad points .. there aren't any ! .. some flaws .. the N/S rear window has some bubbling to the paint along with both front wheel arch's .. but not bad.
There is an independent heating to the rear that's not working
(not looked at it) may just be a relay !
I'm the 3rd owner, the 1st was in the NHS. V5 in my name.
12 mths MOT, NO advisories.
A very solid T4, that need little or nothing .. starts on the button
drives lovely ..get in it & drive for the nxt 100kmiles (or nxt cam belt change).
Please my time is valuable even if your isn't, the price is firm.
