The 1500 engine and the right rear axle ratio will make a huge difference. Is there room for an overdrive gearbox? We could make room to fit one at the very least. There seems to be a crossover in the Herald where we could use the internals to align the gearing a little better, I'll investiagte this further. I have noticed a gearbox under the old bench which I think is a OD 1500 Triumph box, not sure where it came from though ahahah

Iirc the best manifold choice is the single su Toledo 1500. I think I have one for the herald 1500 I'm trying to build. D

Don't bother with all that engine cradle snatching business. Find your self some Viva HA engine mounts -they bolt to the Standard chassis mounts and line up with the later style Triumph engine lugs.
Hopefully you have strengthened the bottom end in your built 1500 - even a 4.11:1 diff won't be tall enough for long life of a standard 1500 lump. I have modified Dolomite internals in my rear axle and a 3.63 from a 1500 Spitfire.
