what's the deal with MK1 Cavaliers?

vauhalls don't hold there value as well, they never seem to have the same level of performance parts available for them either, i quite like the old cavaliers, just vauxhalls shonky not quite right rostyles put me off em.

Sedan and regular 2 door is a opel Ascona with a manta nose, the coupe and 3 door are manta`s without the nostrils in the front

Er, make that Opel's not-quite-right Rostyles.

Proper Vauxhalls had proper Imperial "Ro-Style" wheels. Check Viva, Magnum, Firenza & VX4/90 FD.

The Chevette/Cavalier are primarily Opel designed cars built by Vauxhall in England and use silly metric dimensions including wheel stud patterns. Hence the funny German wheels.

nope, vauxhall ones don't look right either, they don't have the smaller spokes that stick in from the edge of the wheel rim, on theirs its more flat and is just a part that seperates the square holes, on the proper ford ones its much better defined, fords came with more dish on them than anyone elses as well.

yep i like em too. i nearly got one before i bought my chevette. they have a hs axle standard if I'm not mistaken and the vertical turrets that every chevette owner wants. so a redtop goes in no bother. that 2 door would look the nuts without all that crome and some 7 inch wide wheels.

Rostyle wheels were not Ford wheels.

They were actually called Ro-Style wheels and were made by a company called Rubery Owen. Hence the 'Ro' in Ro-Style.

Rubery Owen made them for Ford, Vauxhall, BLMC & Rootes.

They were fitted, with varying diameters, widths, offsets, and stud patterns to the MGB, Midget, Avenger, Hunter, Marina, Rover, Viva, Victor, VX4/90, Ventora, Magnum, Firenza, Cortina, Capri, and probably many more too.

As for the Vauxhall ones not having the extra raised spokes - they most certainly do!

didnt say they were ford wheels, and they definately are not as deeply dished and the small spokes are not as prominant (they sit flatter, as do the mgb ones etc) as the ford ones, i can tell a ford set from miles away, and have done in big stacks of wheels in the past as they are the ones i was always after, must have hunted them down for at least 15 cars over the last twenty years, back when scrapies were full of em.

stll like cavaliers, had a 2 door saloon with a 2 litre manta injection engine in years ago, but was never happy with its rostyles or its interior.

Jo bought one a while ago and i was dreading it. But i quite like it now its got shocks that work and springs that match side to side.

this is way cool! my uncle had these new back in the day, and my cousins used to live down the road from Vauxhall-Central (Luton) in the early 80s. If only his beige-coloured Cav 1 was as cool as this one? Oh, and a friend of mine used to rip the p@ss out of me when i put refurbed Empi/Lemmertz SprintStars on my Beetle, saying they looked like the "welfare-wheels" that Vauxhalls had, referring to the previously mentioned RO-Style wheel. Ha ha very funny...NOT

Winner! That is awesome. I had a Cavalier Coop a few yonks back, bloody great it was too. Swapped it for a dog rough but insane 3.0S Capri.
Iirc Mk1 Cavs had different (and frankly not as good) engines as the Mk2 but would imagine there's a few good options in the engine department available now to hot them up a bit.
