Great stuff, cheers for the input so far.
I'm seeing generally the pre 70'cars are best for the treatment as they don't have that awful later front suspension set up?

Seems it needs to be defined what makes an altered beetle a volksrod? To me it seems the front wheels need to be attached far more forward, either by using the beetle front beam and a "spacer" shown here already or even using a (classic ford) beam. So by that definition (not set in stone) the following ones are no volksrods, only more or less altered bugs, speedsters or bajas: I brought this of the bay I had a Wizard Roadster as a daily for quite a few years and almost went down the Volksrod route with it. I also had weird plans to baja it too! This is Rodbuster imported from America in the early 90's. On display at the Sheffield arena if I remember right. Helped lift the roof on and off with the guy that owned it. I was there with Andy Parrott who built the Trophy Trap Beetle also being shown at the same show. Here is a german bug called the roach, done by someone nicknamed der flexer (the grinder) who did several famous vw customs in the 80/90s. Not sure if it' can be called a volksrod, if the wheelbase hasn't changed ?
I like a Baja too. This is still my favourite beetle ever, I quite like the idea of it volksrodded. btw. THIS is by far the most radical volksrod I've seen, a mix of classic hotrod style and volksrod:

I reckon i would agree with that, A wizard roadster is a wizard a baja is a baja so i would agree front axle moved forward is a volksrod, obviously there is more to it as a lowered beetle isnt a cal look but broadly speaking i would say your right.

Not sure why but those pushed forward front wheels don’t do it for me at all. The proportions just look all wrong. They look way better left on the original position

Got that in my watch list & thinking the exact same thing . Although I’ve just left a deposit on ‘71 Bug , so it’s an idea that’ll have to keep a little longer for me . 👍

I thought it did , but just done a mot history check on it & it has advises for front strut repairs , so could be a 1302 ,they have the mcpherson strut front end . So guessing probably not ?
Would be worth a message to find out for sure .
