Hi,
New to this forum so hi everyone.
I have just finished upgrading my 1985 Austin Morris changing its original 1000 cc engine to a 1300 engine. All works fine except that I need a carborator that fits this engine model. I think the original carborator was made by Stromberg... Any idea where can I find this?

If it's an A+ engine from a 1985 Austin Metro (not really sure what a 1985 Austin Morris is supposed to be as both are BMC manufacturers), there were 2 types of carburettor fitted - the SU HIF38 and the SU HIF44. Depending on your state of tune will be what determines which carb you need.
If it's a basic standard tune with relatively low compression, the HIF38 will be fine as that's what was fitted to the later 1275cc Minis. If it's higher compression, or has a high lift camshaft or bigger valve head (MG Metro spec for example), then an HIF44 is bigger and has a better range for the more tuned engine.

Thank you very much for your reply. Any idea where I can get such carborators?

I would look on ebay or speak to a local Mini club. You can also buy a brand new HIF44 on Mini Spares but it's eye-wateringly expensive.
Rebuild kits are reasonable too.

Usually, the 998cc A-series was fitted with a HIF38, whereas a 1275cc would have the larger HIF44.
You could still run the 1275 on a HIF38, but you would need to change the needle and spring to suit.
An alternative would be to fit a 1.5" HS4 SU carb, as fitted to 1300 Minis, Marinas, etc.

I'm guessing the OP might be in the USA, weren't a lot of cars fitted with Strombergs for export to there because of emissions stuff? I know some Triumph that would have been SU here were Stromberg there.
