While I'm trying not to tinker with my Midget because I'm still getting my old Merc roadworthy, the cold dark evenings give me an opportunity to plan ahead.
Are there any wire wheel companies that will do the equivalent of banding a wire wheel; that is lacing a wider rim of specified inset/offset onto existing spokes and hub?
I've done this on a motorbike in the past - it seems a not uncommon thing to do in the motorbike world. But then there are many more wire wheels on motorbikes.
My GAN1 MG (1961) has 4" wire wheels. I believe 5" and 5.5" x 13 are available but only with an increase in offset which wouldn't fit under my square arches.
A related question, if widening Midget wheels at the rear, is there any benefit in widening the fronts handling-wise?
