have you tried cleaning the air flow meter? mine ran like a pig when it got dirty due to running as snide k&N

Yes it is. Did you change the plugs, leads and coil pack, and there has been no difference? Yes done all above. There's no light on the dash though now |

What live data have you got from both O2 sensors? O2-1 should fluctuate quite a lot, O2-2 should stay pretty stable.

What live data have you got from both O2 sensors? O2-1 should fluctuate quite a lot, O2-2 should stay pretty stable. Well the 2nd sensor is missing completely. After knocking the cat through and re-attaching it's no better. It's using a lot of water but not showing mayo in the oil cap?  Might be ready for that big scrap yard in the sky |

My beetle (1.6) had eml issues and weird running & it was the pipe from the engine to the brake booster - make sure it's not split anywhere.
