The hat is Pickle Rick. I suspect that is meaningless to you, being from an Adult Swim cartoon 3k at 70 is pretty normal for Peugeots. My 206SW 1.4 is exactly the same. ‘SpOrTy’

That is the setup for the episode where he turns himself into a pickle, yes. At 3K you have plenty of revs left, you paid for the whole tachometer, may as well use it 😂

Right Fault finding. Obviously being a 21 year old car it will have some. Being French adds another dimension So none of these affect its actual performance. Paint…… being that it is possibly a fragile type of metallic it has faded a bit on the top surfaces. On the bonnet/hood there are two “spots” of lacquer fail. Next small thing. Parking ding. PDR job One wheel missing a chunk. Upholstery is leather. Drivers seat is rough as a rough thing. Needs repair or a replacement. Lastly nickwheeler also noticed this driving behind me. Hangers are present but rear box swings around madly. Also not central to the exit an some clunking on potholes. I will try sort that too. LASTLY. Booked the little toad in at my local garage for a genuine Peugeot cambelt and waterpump replacement on 20 December. £360.00 plus tax. Not cheap but I feel it a worthy investment as the service history becomes a mystery from 45k miles in 2007. And it is on 103k miles now. Lets hope it’s a worthy investment.

...still cheaper than a 'new' engine ...

I can pick up a complete fabric interior for one at £65.00 and a 100 miles return trip in the company car. Just how challenging are they to dismantle and refit? I am no great fan of leather so fabrics more appealing anyway. Sellers photo below.

Front seats and front door cards are dead easy to swap, it’s all torx bolts, not sure on the rear, as I’ve never removed the back seats from one but I suspect it should be easy. I was never a fan of the 206 leather either, finding the sporty fabric seats much nicer and actually harder wearing.

Leather wipes drier quicker than fabric when you leave the roof down in rain.

I love that engine, but the jury is out of the rest of it to be honest

BIG fan of the colour and a folding metal hard top (the SLK did it first though ) Zany-coloured folding hardtops are due a revival Like you I'm no fan of leather - it wears poorly and is freezing in winter, scalding in summer. Also it'll be much cheaper just to swap out the interior. Could the exhaust just be a perished rubber or two? Hopefully just a cheap & quick fix at that end. If you've got no electrical gremlins you've found a good one - I had a 307 (out of necessity rather than choice) of a similar vintage and it kept eating lightbulbs, popping fuses and the electric windows genuinely had a mind of their own. Fingers crossed you have none of the same!

Bin the leather and swap it out with that £65 interior. Will be way cheaper than trying to get that seat sorted properly.
You might even get a chunk back selling the leather ones on.

My worst worry about dying is my wife selling my stuff for what I told her it cost...

Get some after market seat heating elements to cure the cold leather issue - I fitted them into my Caterham when I built it in 2001 - lovely on a cold frosty day.
Decent trimmer, or even someone with a needle and thread, could sew that seam back up to be useable for reasonable cost.
