Some interesting life stories here; Sending the RR community my best wishes for 2024 in general and to member Laters especially. I am mainly into my 4WDs, but the general classic car scene has always had my interest as well, and this forum has the right feel to it.
I have no goals for 2024 other than to continue enjoying my projects. I used to set deadlines (or usually got a deadline set because an offroad competition was coming up), but the point of my Jeep project is that there is no deadline. This is how I started to enjoy being in the garage again. Deadlines I have enough at work, and the moment your hobby has deadlines, it becomes a job.
So, hope everyone can enjoy their projects and write about them on RR!

I love the whooshing noise deadlines make as they fly by. Over the holiday break I have started and (almost) finished a project which has been waiting for two years. A seven by nine grow cage in the main garden. A sixty-three square metre chicken free zone for mrs igor to grow vegetables in. As of 2030 hrs tonight it is all done but for making the door. That's next weekend's job.

I've been elbow deep in winter projects. Got a lot done over the festive break. Made an exhaust... here's how:

Thought I would add the update to the end of this thread as its where the cancer diagnosis got first discussed.
After starting my treatment of radiotherapy combined with chemotherapy on 1/1/2024 which carried on for six weeks solid 5 days a week.
At the start of week six I collapsed on the bathroom floor where my other half had to restart me as the ambulance had not arrived as they were still on their way.
She had managed to get me back in the land of the living when the ambulance arrived. I was carted off to hospital where I had to stay for a while.
Being released once a day after a while to goto the other hospital where the radiotherapy was taking place.
Fast forward a good few months and had scan few weeks back to check on how treatment worked.
Went to see the oncologist earlier this week.
He was smiling when he walked in the room & the first thing he said is
"The cancer has gone" and that the treatment was 100% effective.
That is the best news I could only have dreamed of.
I am still liquid fed via the feeding tube as I cant swallow at the moment due to side effects and scar tissue.
That along with the other side effects could be with me for a few years but a small price to pay for the removal of the cancer.
I have to have a camera down my throat ever 6 weeks for the next 12 months just to check the cancer doesnt return as there is a chance of that happening.
When they said things would be brutal they were not joking and it is a hard slog but worth it. Its looking like things are going to change in relation to my cars but thats for some time in the future.
I do want to say thank you to you all as reading the forum has provided a much needed distraction while treatment took place and I was laid up in hospital.
When they said I might loose a little weight they were not joking so far I have lost 30kg. Its a good job I put a few kg on before I started treatment.

Great news! I don't envy the camera though... twice in 6 months was enough for me.
