Yaris 1.0 is a 3 cylinder and is in the £35 tax. They hold their money quite well so expect £1500-£2500 for a 2008-2009 ish one.
Diahatsu Sirion / Subaru Justy. These are slightly smaller than a Yaris and were also sold as a Perodua Myvi (I've got one of those and been using it as my daily / motorway car)
These came in 1.3 4 cylinder (£180 tax) and 1.0 3 cylinder (£35 tax) both are the same engines used in the Yaris.
These are cheaper to buy than the Yaris (ESPECIALLY the MYVI) but much roomier in the back than an Aygo/107 as they have a proper metal tailgate with a low boot lip.
The Myvi version will be the cheapest of the lot (I'm flogging mine cheap but its the 1.3) but the Myvi has unique bonnet/headlamps/wings so is harder to find spares for. My 1.3 goes like the clappers and will light the tyres in 2nd gear in the rain.
