Thanks.
It's the rear left wheel bearing. Ordered the inner and outer bearings and races, inner and outer seals. Nobody lists the hub nut, typically.
I'll get that pulled, swapping it looks to be a right song and dance.

Nightfall occurred. Was a pretty sunset, so went take a ride. A new car to go get a chocolate malt on Thursday. Funnily the wheel bearings shipped last night, about 30 minutes after I placed the order. Phil

That's what you call service Looks small in comparison with the truc. That's because it is. The hood off my truck is 4'7", the roof of the Jag is 4'4" It has a modestly large footprint but with the traditional Jag sloping lines to the front and rear it looks smaller especially when up against the vehicles here. Next to an Austin A30 it is big.

Noisy wheel bearings replaced. Still noisy. Need to figure out what's going on with it.

Did a little diagnosis after work. Right hub bearings are noisy. Not as bad as the left was but still, noisy. I'll get those on order. Phil

Pinning down noisy bearings can be such a "fox picture" over the years I've spent many happy hours trying to identify which bearing is noisy on multi motor setups Hopefully this will quieten things down 👍

Particularly as in this case there was more than one source of noise. Ordered another bearing set. This one less of a mix-n-match, all SKF.

It looks nice when it's clean. So I washed it.

This definitely had run out of miles. Replaced that, now I've got two new sets of wheel bearings and seals in the rear hubs, and that has promoted absolute silence when driving the car now. What a change. Next up, rear dampers. Phil

that's well past it's best, how bad were the rollers ? Looks like brinelling, was it parked up for a long time ? Rollers look good. The race is rough though. Someone had been in this side and smeared a little grease about, which did nothing. The seals were hard on this side. Cleaned up the surfaces and replaced the seals. It was parked from 2019 to 2024 so yeah, that's from sitting up. The grease was wet, cheesy and smelled nasty. All new bearings and races now, new grease packed in. Phil

Went to the city today. Did good, loaded 4 up. (uk 24 mpg). Combined city/highway. The city roads finished the rear shocks off today, so I ordered spring isolators and new shocks for the back. Should be in towards the end of the week. Phil

The heater core for the cabin on these is in a very distant location, and the flow from the water pump, especially after bypasses and valves and several miles of pipe is not really enough to get the heater matrix nice and hot, particularly at idle. Answer? An electric pump in the system to boost the flow. The heater was a bit tepid and I was told it should be SAAB levels of heat. So, I wired up the pump directly after checking it with my ohm-meter (1.8 ohm, good for a motor) and all I got were a few sparks initially. I gave the motor a few thumps with the power connected and it quietly whirred into life. Win number one. So, it got plugged back in and.. nope. Nothing. I went poke in the manual and discovered the thing is on a fuse in the engine bay, so I started pulling and inspecting fuses. A good number of them looked like this, so they were cleaned with a file and then a chemical clean with deoxit before being wiggled in the socket a bit. Did all of the fuses and now we have a working boost pump. Calling that one a win. Phil

Suspension in pieces again. This time to replace the rear shock absorbers. Fun time with spring clamps... Spring isolator had seen better days. Both the top and bottom mounts had disintegrated on the shock itself. After a little bit of a fight, all in and looking good. Need to do the other side but that made a difference. Now I know how to do it, the process will be faster. Phil
