OK call me stupid but I think it's fixed! I hadn't buttoned everything up & a few things were loose to test. Also the breather pipe from the rocker cover filler to the airbox pipe was perished so I intended to replace it. I refitted that pipe & it started & ran no problem!! I thought it was just a vent pipe?

Now the engines running I can carry on with the stripdown. I've got a polybush kit & subframe mounts for the rear so I always planned to strip the whole rear end off the car. I started today by pulling the halfshafts & dropped out the diff. The cv boots need doing anyway so I thought to help with the weight it would be easier to drop the diff. I'm going to remove the diff cover & check the actual diff gears tomorrow.

Does anybody have experience about Sierra's? I pulled the driveshafts yesterday to inspect & measure to find I have excessive slop in rotation. I cut the inner rubber boot off one side & what looked like treacle came out! According to haynes it should be disulphide grease. I'm going to assume the original grease got very hot & turned to liquid eventually killing my inner & outer joints? Here's a pic of the diff cover all cleaned up.

We're heading back to the UK this weekend so the sierra project will be on hold until next year. I'll be buying parts to bring back ready to rebuild it quite quickly. I plan on rear end complete rebuild. Underseal the chassis, some more engine work & fixing the front bumper. So back to England onto the ltd. forum.retro-rides.org/thread/226482/ford-foxbody-mustang-american-sedan

My mate did a thing with photo bucket & modified the old sierra. He removed the door strips, lowered & changed the wheels to anthracite.

Crazy how good condition it's in. Looks to be a better shell than those new old stock Cossie shells that come up for sale every so often.

I remember seeing a lot of these sierras in Spain years ago, are there still quite a few about? What sort of prices are they?

There's a few on ebay.es, not 3 door though. They vary in price massively.
