Hi, I've recently bought a 1994 Rover 820 2.0 T16 SLi Auto, and unfortunately, the SRS is illuminating on the dash upon startup. What would be the best way of resolving this? So far, we've tried unplugging and reconnecting the connectors under both front seats and drained the ECU (left the battery disconnected overnight). Additionally, we've found two service ports, one to left-hand side of the driver, under the radio/ blower system, and another under the bonnet. However, we cannot find any tool to access these ports. It's really quite frustrating aha Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you

It could be something as unexpected as a faulty SRS component.
If there is no way to fault diagnose with a reader to determine which component is at fault, ut could be worth determining the resistance each item provides, bypassing with a resistor each item to see which "resets" the fault with a resistor in to allow you to pinpoint the fault.

Once the SRS system sees a fault or anything is disconnected with the ignition switched on, the light will stay on till the fault is fixed and cleared using a Rover Microcheck or Test Book for your 1994 car.
The diagnostic connector is down by the pedals on the tunnel behind the triangular clipped on carpet panel
Most likely something was unplugged with ignition on or the steering wheel clock spring/rotary coupler has an open circuit.

Generally unplugging/replugging the wiring under the seats (if this is the issue, code reader helps) will not cure it, they will need cutting off and hard wiring together, or remove existing connectors and fit better quality.

My 820 did this when I first had it - turned out to be a loose battery terminal...

Have you checked the continuity of the 'clockspring' behind the steering wheel airbag ? They can be fragile

If this is correct, just fixing the fault alone won't fix it. It needs someone with the correct diagnostics to clear it. BMWs are the same. If there is an airbag fault, disconnecting and reconnecting the battery after fixing the issue won't clear the problem. For the OP, it may be worth seeing if there is a person who can clear your codes for you or read them at the very least. At least you can then know where to go looking.
