Hi guys! Hope you're all well? I'm currently 3/4 the way through a 6 month recovery and I'm really wanting to to scratch a lifelong itch to become a teacher. Now with that in mind, I thought I'd throw a thread up on here to discuss what car I should get if/when I become a teacher, I think that's only fair right? I'm open to anything, the obligatory Volvo wagon is of course acceptable, however let's see em! Thanks guys! Here's some snaps of my previously owned 940 wagon...

I used to be a teacher - When I was training in about 2014 I had a '96 XJ6 (on LPG), then I had a '78 mk1 Cavalier. After that I got a '92 Lincoln Towncar on LPG, followed by an '03 XJ8, followed by an '01 530d E39, then an 01' XJR on LPG, an '03 Smart Roadster, an X308 XJ8, my Capri was present throughout, as was my MK1 MX5. I also had my '98 Lexus LS400 which was a great staff room for my PPA sessions... Reckon I've probably forgotten a few!!

My other half was a teacher and used our 205 GLD the most, but she also enjoys driving the 740 GLE. The 205 generally returned over 65mpg commuting.
She's not a teacher any more, but it's not the 205's fault.

I feel the 6 month recovery pain, currently on month 6 of being in hospital!
I had a teacher with a classic mini in green with Tin tin stickers (1998) was the coolest thing and occasionally got moved by leaving 6th formers because it was a mini 😂
Anything 90's would be respected as they can remember them or have parents who do. Mk3 Fiesta, Citroen Ax, Mk1 Mondeo all useable but now retro

The Headmaster at my Primary school had an Alfa Romeo Giulietta in the early 80s. He also wore pastel knitwear, a black leather jacket and had a cracking early 80s tache, so if you wanted to go down that route, it's definitely been done before.

my old science teacher used to always have Citroen 2cv's My first science teacher had a late 60s 280SE which I believe he and his wife (my Form 2 teacher) brought with them when they immigrated from England. Next science teacher had an ADO16 then a Honda Civic. Sixth Form physics teacher drove a Trekka as did the deputy head.

Welcome to the profession! I'm a fellow teacher, though moved out of the classroom and into a senior role. These are my two retros. Judging by my experience, a typical teacher's car is a financed Skoda or an eight year old Vauxhall or Ford of some dreary description. I did used to have a DT teacher in secondary school, who had a modified VW Beetle. I remember recognising it from the VolksWorld show from when I went in Year 6.

When I was at school, I had a teacher that had narcolepsy. He drove a red Citroen BX and was once seen half in and half out of it asleep! There was a PE teacher with a Triumph Acclaim and an Art teacher with a Mini with wide arches.

Been trying to recall what my teachers drove, late 70’s, early ‘80’s. There’s the slightly odd science teacher with his 2CV. One headmaster drove a lwb Land Rover, and another drove a Fiat 500. Even though I was as car-mad then as I am now, I don’t remember much else.

When I think "professor's car", I think of a 2002. Pair with a Harris tweed jacket with elbow patches for bonus points!
