Thanks to everyone, unlucky that GJM, i'm still trying to perfect the turn in the road as well as the reversing round the corner etc, other than that i'm doing alright lol. Nick, i'm in all day today so just ring at anytime, just don't talk too loud down the phone, i've been to Hospital because I have a bad ear and they've buggered it up

Congrats Will - I guess you still have to do the practical driving test before you start terrorising the roads of Northants - so..... we're safe for a while yet ;D GJM - sounds like you were really unlucky not to pass your test, i'm sure the test is alot harder now than when I passed ten years ago (God I'm feeling old )

I'd better admit to this now, I'm studying to become a driving instructor! The test is a whole lot more complicated than it was in 1986!!
There's going to be compulsory post test lessons for motorway driving soon so hurry up and pass!

Congrats Will its amazing how much tests changed over just a few years. I did my theory in 97, then had to do it again in 2001 when i did my bike test. In those four years everything changed, i even had to do it on a computer instead of paper!!

Yeah in some places now, its even a touch screen instead of a mouse now, no doubt it'll be even harder in a couple of years.

Not sure yet, the government want it introduced soon. At the moment you can take Pass Plus lessons after you have your licence which can help get your insurance down. This includes motorway driving.
I'll find out if I can. Hopefully I'll qualify in the next 6 months and be able to offer a discount to Retro drivers! Useful, the price of a lesson around here is about £22 an hour!

Well done Supersport!! GJM, if it makes you feel any better, I only passed my driving test on the 5th attempt!! 1st - took test too early (curse word BSM trainee instructor ) 2nd - Catch 22 situation (excellent BSM trainee instructor 3rd - nerves (independant instructor 1) 4th - nerves (independant instructor 2) 5th - didn't care any more, so relaxed and passed ;D (independant instructor 2) On explaining the Catch 22 to my then and later instructors, they reckoned that I was failed because of the rumoured quota system

lol yeah nerves do get to ya alot Amazon, think thats one of the factors why I failed, felt as sick as a parrot all day before the test. One of my cousians took her test at the same place I did and failed as soon as she pulled out of the car park, why? The test centre is on a nice little one way system harsh or what lol

The test centre in Banbury is on a tight busy road with alot of parked cars to deal with. Loads of people fail on there way out of the carpark.
Look at it this way. They reckon that the best drivers fail there first test.

Look at it this way. They reckon that the best drivers fail there first test. There may be some truth in that.... I passed first time and had spanked my Skoda within six weeks. Haven't done it since though...(Hit anything else that is...finished up facing the wrong way with car on verge / halfway down ditch / in field on a number of occasions, but they don't count!)
