I've heard of people using Skoda transaxles in Imps to get a 5 speed stronger boxc for classic trials. Don't know how an easy a job it is, but I wonder how a 5 speed imp would be on the road.
When I had my 120L I always imagined it to be a slightly bigger modern progression of the imp (the old S saloon and coupe models even had the rad and fan in the engine bay at the back like the imp). Oh and it used the same 4x130 PCD of the beetle, but the PAL electrics were licensed Lucas. quite a weird mix
