I have been building up my picture archive for a couple of months now. How many have done the same?
I am currently at just over 4,000 pictures and am now needing to re-organise them.
I have folders for different manufacturers and for some of my larger folders (Ford, Opel, VW, BMc/BL/Austin/Morris) have sub-folders for different models.
I also have a rather large "Don`t know" folder and most of my J folders are are mix of all models as I don`t know as much about them as I would like.
What are other peoples experiences of doing this? Any advice on organisation, classification and just general experience would be most interesting.

Pah - amateur ;D ;D ;D here's mine: I have it broken down into subfolders of manufacturer, then in most of those individual models. Then in some of those, I have types - eg, Mk1,2,3,4,5,6 Escort, Mk1,2,3,4 Golf etc. Mk1 Golfs are broken down into Caddys, Cabrios, Swallowtails, and even colour because I've got thousands of them, and it takes AAAGES to find a particular pic in there!

Oh, and there's another two or three thousand that are unclassified - either waiting for me to get round to sorting them into the right places, or I don't know what they are... Bosozukud J-Stuff that's almost unrecognisable, that kind of thing.
I recommend ACDSee, great for dragging and dropping pics around ;D

Sweet fugging christ! 38,000 I have broken Ford down to Escort Mk1, 2, 3 etc and did the same with Granada, Capri, Cortina etc. Similar thing with VW, Golf Mk1, 2, 3 etc and have seperate folders for Splitscreen, Bay and T25. Same with the other large folders. Most of my "Don`t know" are Bozuku styled cars. I need to do something with the Mini folder too. How long have you been compiling yours?

Well, if I think about it, I used to trawl the web for pics when I first started work after uni, back in about 1996 or so!!! I lost a LOAD when a hard drive died on me. But I've always had lots of web bandwidth to myself and not much to do so it's just kind of filled the time... Oh, and that doesn't count any of the ones I've taken myself - another few thousand there. Some are in the gallery on here.

Wow! I just have huge disorganised masses of pictures on my computer, mainly ones of my Imp and my '75 racer Imp (which by the way I've recently finally got rid of having already taken everything that was worth having and not stolen by b*stards in burberry off of it. It's gone to the track day in the sky! ;D ;D ;D), and various pictures I've photoshopped, plus interesting pics of Soviet cars, Imps, and other stuff that caught my eye at shows or on the internet! ;D ;D ;D ;D

I'm afraid that my collection is rather narrow, consisting mainly of Rileys, Volvo Amazons & early Spridgets. Other stuff does occasionally make it in, but only if I find it particulary interesting; e.g. nicely modded, interesting styling, or because I think it's a design icon.
All my net downloading is on the Mac at work (transfered home by cd), so it can't take up too much hard drive space!!

Do you lot just put any pictures in to your achives or just ones of cars you like if that makes sense. That's just my car folder ;D For some reason, and I'm not entirely sure why, I have a folder full of 70s and 60s furniture, kitchenalia and general stuff from that era that catches my eye on eBay. I sometimes browse through it for inspiration for colour schemes and typefaces for website designs, that sort of thing.
