Lost storage, so it looks like most of my projects will have to go, either sold or scrapped Think I can keep Sarah's 72 beetle, but the GTi 16V MKII is probably a gonner. So if anyone wants a project MKII 16v with small bumpers, in tornado red, let me know

Oh man, bad luck. Not in a position (financial or storage-wise) to get any more cars otherwise I'd definitely be interested in the 190!! Hope you find a good home for them (or find alternative storage arrangements!)

That is a shame. Not in a position to buy any motors myself either, or the 190 would sound interesting. Good luck in getting a good price for them.

Firstly, bad luck on the storage, hope you do find something suitable to sort the prob out, I know our local council do rent off unused garages round the Warwickshire area, might be worth a call to your local lot on monday ?
Alternatively, is the 190 merc, a petrol or diesel ?
Let me know by pm if you prefer.

Got a feeling it's worked out and I've sorted storage for another 2 cars, so it looks like I'm ok for now. But I did sell the merc, without the stereo for £250 to some local lads looking for a project, so that is no longer in my stable , gonna miss that one, but there you go.... The golf needs some work, gotta get some 15" rubber, so I can MOT her, then get the paint sorted, and I think I have a weeping rear shock, so I'll prob whack some coilovers on there and dump it low. Pillock, want to sell your Audi any time?, please let me know as I miss mine..

the audi is doing the same thing as my polo did... getting me hooked. it needs faffy little things - most from scrapyards, stuff like the shelf under the dash, a couple of bits of trim for the doors, got a bumper that just needs painting and it could do with a bootlid although it's just got a dent in, all works properly and it's watertight. but still l love the bloody thing, so relaxing to cruise in.... really i need something smaller and more economical, hence my interest in your golf but i love the noise of the audi, it's a really smooth drive and i had it up on the ramps at the end of last year and wow - someone has spent serious £££ on that. all new brake calipers all round, all new suspension bushes at the rear, new alternator and starter motor, new dizzy and leads, new exhaust backbox although it needs a decat pipe fitting. must have had nearly £1k spent in parts and labour. so yeah, i'm thinking of selling, looking at Mk2 GTis on the bay at the moment but haven't got the cash to buy then sell, and haven't got the transport to sell then buy so ideally need to swap the audi for something.

yeah i bought it really a) cos it was cheap and cool and b) so we had a big car and we could flog claire's mondeo
little did i know how puny the quattro's boot is (4wd system + mahoosive fuel tank) and the mondeo has lived on for another year so i can go back to my little pocket rockets...
annoying though cos it is a cool motor, the sound is lush!

See I've got my van for lugging curse word, so I've never worried about that kinda thing 5's sound awesome, mine was a 2.3 10v, I took the cat off it and it went like stink, serious speed and really nice to drive, soon drank though, esp with the 4WD, but point to point was so rapid it was unreal. I'll get some MOT and Tax on the golf and we can talk then yeah?, remember the valvers are thirsty animals too though.... Just outta interest, what cash are you looking at for the Audi?

A valver should see 30+ mpg easily even when 'making progress' (mine did).... I was getting low 20's from both my 20v quattro's... (driving like a grandad - anything more spirited resulted in much more catastrophic fuel consumption... in fact, my Aunts S500 Merc is more frugal) ha ha!

was going to ask around 5-600 for the audi, it needs a fettle on the bodywork side of things (briefly: dent in tailgate but it all still works ok after i replaced the centre lamp, rust has been filled but not finished/painted on passenger wing, bottom rubber trim on drivers door is loose) but is amazingly solid apart from that. all the news parts i listed in the thread - calipers, starter, alternator, suspension bushes at rear, plus i've had front suspension mount done for the MoT. It's a Quattro Sport so it's got the recaro-style interior and the fake split-rims, the locking diff works 100% and no leaks or grumbles from the quattro system - tested to exhaustion in the snow recently and a LOT of fun! tax is till June/Julyish and MoT is for the whole year. only thing it'll need soon is an oxygen sensor to get the economy back up to scratch, and a wheel bearing at the front. catalyst rattles a bit but it's a 1991 'H' so doesn't need one - can just replace it with a bit of pipe. what's the golf like? what were you thinking of asking for that? really looking for a golf worth the same, or less than the audi as i have no £££ to put towards a swap but will gladly take £££ plus a car oh and be quick - there's a Scirocco Storm popped up on claire's work forum for not much cash - might be tempted to straight sell the Audi if you're still interested but the golf not ready though.

golf is no where near ready for fetching decent money, I paid £80 for it (gives you some idea) but I was only after the clocks, engine, box and brakes at the time.
I am tempted, lots by the audi, but I don't have £5-600 spare, otherwise I'd snap your hand off.
