OK this might be a bit of a rant more than a suggestion, as I don't really know how it would be policed... but...
I wish people would put a price on their ads. They must know how much they want for it. Putting "offers" is just annoying.

Seems to be a bit of an unwritten rule on here that we don't 'do' offers (which i like). Folk do sometimes put 'offers' in their ad but then they generally get some abuse and end up putting a price down. I hate 'offers' too, I have never seen anyone publicly make an offer. These 'gauging interest' adverts are similarly woolly and ineffective.

Anyone who says 'offers' deserves to be flamed. If you really don't know what an item is worth stick it on eBay with what you think is a fair reserve and let the bidders decide.

Sometimes 'offers' is the right way to sell something when you're not sure of it's value or you just want rid of it.
If you've got a price in mind, say it - if you do put offers, then be prepared to recieve them (and not be offended).
