Nice selection of cars there mate, the closest I've come to owning an alfa was a 50% stake in an Alfa Sprint green cloverleaf shape pile of rust ;D but your junior and sud look to be in much nicer condition. Even though the GT is brand new I still really like them, I remember seeing my first one in france last march (it was the same colour as yours as well) it's always nice seeing the first of a new model on the road as it's the best place to judge them

Quality!!!
Whats Ireland like for the multiple-car-owning enthusiast? I mean in terms of tax, MOT, insurance etc? is it super-expensive? I never see any interesting cars when I go to Ireland and I see most of yours are on UK plates, have you had to fetch them all over yourself?

I never see any interesting cars when I go to Ireland and I see most of yours are on UK plates, have you had to fetch them all over yourself? Yes I agree that Irish people have a dreary taste in cars but you can't really blame them as the government really loves to screw the motorist here. I have five classics - the ones on UK plates are shortly to be given Irish plates as the customs here can seize cars not properly registered within a certain time limit. There is a vehicle registration tax (VRT) here - they brought it in when the EU banned duty - but its really the same thing using a different name - totally illegal under eu law. I do a lot of the work on them myself and don't have all of them on the road at the same time so that keeps the costs low. I have them all insured under the one classic policy. Classic car tax here (cars must be over 30 years) is 46 euro's - not bad I suppose but there is nothing in this country that is tax exempt. If I was in the UK I would probably have a Ferrari by now - that's only a pipe dream here I always buy UK classics - there are simply no good ones here and the ones there are are way overpriced. Classics over 30 years don't have to do our Irish mot (called NCT here) Overall I accept the costs of classic motoring because it gives me such enjoyment - the average joe soap though thinks I'm mad and generally exagerates the costs involved. Once you have a nice dry garage for your car and keep doing the odd bit of upkeep to them it does not work out that expensive

Hi Blue850 Nice Fiat 850 - Do you know any good places in Ireland to get classics painted - most I have asked don't want to know about old cars? They always need a nip and tuck now and again
