AGH ! Taking the mk1 golf in this afternoon... The usual butterflies in stomach...... I reckon it'll fail on emissions, and the horn playing up ( the only time it DOESN'T work is MOT time. ) wish me luck.... ;D

Yep, good luck. Any self respecting retro fan dreads the big day! MOT testers seem to be getting more picky! Don't know how you guys with more than one retro car cope with the stress!!

Good luck Thrasher I only recently took the Derby in for its first MOT under my care, I was dead nervous as I was imagining all sorts of horrors which maybe found - almost as bad as taking the ageing Cat to the vets - especially since the tester is a friend and notoriously strict. To my surprise it sailed straight through not needing a bean Hopefully your Golf will do the same

when i took siggy for her first test in 8 eight years the tester knocked and banged for about an hour underneath and found NO holes at all , saved my scraping off all the old underseal ,ha ha tosser. he looked most upset that he couldnt find anything, so he failed me on a sticky rear brake. not bad for a car that hadnt moved for 8 years ;D

hahaha, FAIL. On....the horn...which worked on the way to the MOT station and the way back, and in the forwcourt out front when i was saying cheerio to the tester.... ;D and a blowing manifold to downpipe joint, which is my fault as i didn't put it back together properly in my excitement when i changed all the studs on the manifold last month. So...when its cooled down, i can sort that and it should be ready to go again... the dreaded emissions were fine too.... 0.16% c/o .....is that low or high !? 909 ppm too ...not bad for 130'000 miles ! and no advisments either, never been welded either....yum. I love my golf.

the dreaded emissions were fine too.... 0.16% c/o .....is that low or high !? VERY low.... ideally looking for around 1.5% on a carb'd motor....
|
|
... the only injury I sustained was a bumped head when I let the seatbelt of without realizing the car was upside down and that's not really the car's fault.

running LEAN then !? Yeah, but if it's running OK I'd leave it alone (this is the voice of bitter experience)

Yeah, but if it's running OK I'd leave it alone (this is the voice of bitter experience) Hahaha ! i know that one all too well, its not perfect....was going to buy a colourtune kit and sort it, the chance of going even faster is too much of a temptation....its bloody nippy as it is... !

I MOTed the Imp earlier this month and it is the first car i have owned to go straight through. The MOT tester really liked it and told me some cool storys about Imps he had back in the 60s.

Pissflaps. Took our Astra back for a re-test this morning. (Failed last week on poorly earthed headlamp). Car ran like cack on the way to the test centre. (HT leads knack'd). And snapped a road spring too. FUTHA MUCKA!!!!! Very very not impressed.
