Thanks for the positive comments folks...
Stephanie... that KP looks awweeesome! Very neat conversion, would be so out of left field for someone to do that over here, due to almost nil availability of that engine (is that what is called the 'XE' motor? Sorry... Vauxhall n00b!). Bet it gets a wriggle on when you press the loud pedal too!
michiel/mrstigma - thanks, although I wonder if I have some kind of problem.... but yeah, my idea for the Equip 03's (wheels at bottom of stack) is to pull them apart and do a thorough refurb on them... which won't be hard as they're in excellent shape... with the centres painted red. I've always wanted some red dished rims... opinions anyone?

Nice fender mirrors there mate. Are they essentially universial?

all you need now is to get some of the old school original stripes back on it.

Great work, and arm out of window vibe is spot on, we cant do that at mo without getting wet or faces blown off!
Now just the front needs a good lopping, cos you got the reverse rake like my Fiesta!

it doesn't matter if it's a Morris Marina or a Toyota Celica - it's what you do with it that counts

Nice fender mirrors there mate. Are they essentially universial? I guess they could be? They're Toyota items, off an early 80's TT130 series Corona... fit into the factory mounting holes etc with no probs since someone had long removed the original KP items (which I now have 2 sets of...) There's also a pic of it bumperless, a few pages up, when it first came back from the paintshop.

Right, it's winter, the car is snugly parked in the shed and it's about time something happened!!! So... here's a picture run down of some new bits. Boge shock intended for Mk2 Golf diesel, on the left alongside Monroe insert for stock KP. Approx 80mm shorter. Spring tophats and platforms, tophats will need machining shorter at the top edge about 10mm The lot... threaded sections also will need to be parted off shorter. So, the stage I am at now, is I have a bunch of parts, and some bare struts. Modifications to the struts include shortening the tubes by around 30mm, rethreading the internal thread to allow new gland nuts to be fitted, and removing the original spring seats. Then, I'll whack them all together, running a 250lb front spring to start with so it should be firm but offer relatively acceptable ride quality on our, um, roads. There's also a mint Nardi steering wheel gracing the cabin now, I'll get some photo's in due course OOOOOHHHH I have also got some new wheels coming, so pics of those too... a pair13x6 Advan A3A's +6 offset, and a pair of 13x6" Street Fins... so the aim is to have a mismatched set of wheels slung on the car, a little bit more authentic Japanese. Plus it will be even more slammable with 13's on it. Stay tuned.

Wow! Loving the Golf 2 Boge shocks idea! Are they OEM replacement shocks, or performance shocks? Keep up the great work!

Things are still progressing on the suspension front, albeit slowly. Spring seats are ground off, struts have been shortened and spacers made up for the bottom below the shocks. These are now approx 75-80mm shorter than a standard KP strut, so it will give me the ability to go um, quite low. Also, managed to pry one of these off the windscreen of a fresh import, intact! If you've ever tried retrieving one, you'll know how damned near impossible they are to get off. Will be pride of place on my windscreen
