OK then, guys and girls.....I have been daydreaming again and creating more delicious retro machinery in my head.... Today's dream is one that seems to be recurring (I've had it on many occasions in the last 15 years or so): I quite fancy the idea of a hot Ford Escort Estate... The car will ideally be of a slighty care-worn appearance, be seriously slammed over the obligatory wide rims, and preferably fitted with some manner of zippy performance components. After judicious Googling, I can't find anything that sums up what I have in my head! The only thing close to it is HERE!!!But that's nowhere near close enough to the weeds! ;D ;D Does anyone have any pics that illustrate such a beast. I'm sure that there are plently which have been modded, but I just thought it'd be nice to do an estate one over the more common 2-and 4-door flavours! (Hella practical too! ) Any leads and / or tip offs as to where I can find a suitable base car for this would be way-ass cool too. I've had a sniff round the usual sources (ebay, autotrader etc.) but have drawn a blank. (Oh and if anyone wants to buy a midly modified BMW e30 I will now entertain sensible offers! )

What Escy we talkin' here? I like the idea of a Mk3 estate! Me and my bro went to get some Cossie parts off a guy in Birmingham the other week, and he had a Mk3 Escort estate with 1.6 CVH on twin 40 Webers. To be honest it was a bit of a barry-boy machine but the basic concept was there! Also, for some unknown reason, he'd changed the front-end for Mk4 parts, which involves changing the bulkhead and everything!!! Personally I think a Mk3 is cooler than Mk4, and are in that limbo at the minute between boy racer nails and appreciated retro motors.

Mk1 or 2 is where it's at. None of that FWD rubbish! The red one is pretty close to what's in my head! Make it be manky white / cream with a vinyl roof and a matt-black bonnet and it'd be there!!!!!

WIKID Never understood the point of the 3dr esate, its only marginally larger than the hatch but they seem to be popular with window cleaners and painter/decorators I wonder what the vent on the rear 1/4 panel does?

Look in classic ford, fast ford etc Check out the MK1 owners club and the sporting escort owners club. Be sure to get a real solid one, they rust like curse word and are a pain to fix. Rear arches, front wings, sills, boot floor front and rear windscreen scuttle panes, chassis rails, inner wings are all places you should be looking at. I dare say I've missed some out.
If the doors are shagged, the MK2 vans and estates used MK1 doors.
If I think of anything else, I'll let you know

Yeah, I really miss mine, it was a heap but it was cool. I thought of another place to check, the strut tops go big style. I once saw an orange MK2 lose it's front struts, 2 big lumps appeared on his bonnet and it suddenly got alot lower ;D BTW, if you want wider rims, get some capri steels, very similar to the ones on my old escy, but they're a 6J instead of a 5.5J This is my old one

I've fancied one of these for a while. When I was 16 I used to see a really nice one driving around pitsea, bright yellow with blacked out windows and capri laser wheels. Mk2 it was. The kind of car that you don't need to do a lot to to give it big attitude.

)I quite fancy the idea of a hot Ford Escort Estate... So do I. So do i ;D ;D The Estates & Vans have always appealed to me yet with the saloon there's just no way one is coming my way at the moment They can just look so much better than the saloons with the right mods. Was also going to post that Mexico rep e-bay link but darn, dash went & got beaten to it ;D

I'd buy it, wouldn't be hard to find the parts to build it up, and minimal bodywork needs doing, bargain I reckon
