Trying to sort out my insurance on my MG again. I just phoned up my current insurance that i'm insuring my cab with, Elephant.co.uk They have just told me that i could not put an agreed value on the MG of £2500 and i would only get market value which would be less than £1000!!! I then said well the market value would not be less than £1000? and if you look in any price guides you would see that? but he said it does not matter and assured me they would not pay out £2500 on a 27 year old car On a good note i just got a quote for just over £500 from footman james:)

I'm insured on the beetle with adrian flux. They just asked me what it was worth and wanted 6 photos with a brief description of condition for the agreed value. Just got my scooter done with carole nash, very good service and they do an Omni policy to cover two items (eg car/bike or even house/car).

My big restriction is my age as i'm 20,
I'd give footman james a ring they under cut all other other places i tried by a good £300!
Most wanted £800-£900 and they quoted me £500.25, which may seem alot to you but its very cheap for people my age.

existing policy for my tina is with adrian flux and it appears to have confused the hell out of them cos i want to lower it and change the wheels interestingly enough, footman james don't class mk1 polo's as classic cars, so there you go

just remembered I insured my T25 with HIC. Are they still around? I'm sure they had quite good understanding of different models and mods. Every other company insisted it either didn't exist or it was left hand drive. My wife got quite irate when as she knew which side to sit on when she was driving. I think a lot depends who you get on the end of the phone. Adrian Flux seem like that, they were the best by far for the beetle but that was because the bloke on the other end knew about them. When I rang back to check some details I got somebody else who didn't have a clue.

i had to be a member of a club, but only trouble is i'm not, so i gave the website address of retro-cars.com!! and said i was a full member on there and they said thats fine ;D Also said i had applied for membership of the mg owners club and i was waiting for the details.
Just blag it, i think as long as they can put something down they are fine, they want your money at the end of the day.

Adrian FLux are good prices but I wouldn't go with them again Yes, HIC do still exist. Me & the missus are both with/ through them now ;D They undercut my renewal from last years broker by just over £100 & when all the details came through, it was with the same insurer!!!! They were only slightly cheaper for the missus on the family-mobile ;D but they do a thing called ''freewheel extras'' or something.... This is how they work out modifications & that. Mate phoned them up & said he put a Sportex exhaust, change of alloys, & a Recaro interior in his XR4x4 & their reply was ''Fine, no problem'' That's the reason I got the missus to change over as this year I want to get a few things done to her car aswell!!! ;D ;D

HIC are the worst company for customer service i have EVER experienced. They cancelled the insurance on the audi without telling me - i accept it was due to a missed direct debit but they could have at least let me know, or asked me to pay via debit card or something. it was only when i rang up to swap it over to the scirocco that they said "oh... you're no longer insured with us". thanks for that, i've just been driving for 3 weeks uninsured basically they want your money and that's it - no more service. i understand making a claim through them is very drawn-out and tedious too. however they do insure pretty much anything and like you said, they allow a fair few mods with no extra charge, the G40 was also through them and they didn't charge extra for the stainless 'zaust or lowerering, just a bit more for the uprated charger. i'd recommend trying sureterm for a 'classic' car... i put the scirocco through them for £260 including agreed valuation and breakdown cover. elephant.co.uk wanted £499 just for basic cover and they were far cheaper than anyone else. they advertise on the outside back cover of retro cars mag most months.
