Yeh you probably guessed it Another ebay purchase. 505 GTi (2.1 inline 4 cylinder, bosch injection, 130ish bhp, 5speed, electric windows, moon roof, central locking, blue velour interior, serck plates!) Payed a bit too much for it I think. Its a bit more rusty that the seller let on so will probably be a bit of a welding marathon to start with. Its blasted cool tho so I don't relly care! Clean eh?? WRONG! Needs the ends of the sills doing, front valance, both lower rear quarters and maybe some of the arches depending on how much I cut out for the wheels. Motivation:

Cool! Is that quite an early one? Is it RWD? That front valance looks like it could be a pig, hope it goes well!

wondered when it would appear, didnt expect this one. front lights kind of jdm style, and with the wheels I'm guessing your heading in that direction. boso treatment? wheels look immense, i laughed, mainly with anticipation and excitement

You lot don't hang about do you!
Yeh its RWD, it would have been a bit silly putting the wheels on a FWD car imo. Its worth saying that the wheels came first and the car is only here beacuse i thought it would suit the wheels.
The valance is attulay the easy bit. it just bolts on!

My dad's got a 505GTDT, the mechanics are as hard as nails but boy can they rust! Engine is AFAIK a development of the Douvrin engine also used in the Renner 20. Invest in some anti-theft, they are known for being spirited away to Africa....mind you, knowing you it will probably be quite....distinctive after a very short time.

Really looking foward to the progress of this, very underated cars the 505's. I think they only recently went out of production in Africa? I guessed right on the other thread btw.

Recently sold a 505 Auto estate on ebay to an African who was sending it off to Nigeria.
It was spec-tastic, it had aftermarket air con and was once owned by the Venezulan embassy in london.
Loving the GTI , cant wait to see the wheels on.

That is lovely. I don't think you have paid too much - I have seen these going for amazing money lately, invariably to exporters. Yours has the early dash and lights and our favourite kind of number plates! Marvellous cars, I would love one. Theres a V6 one on there at the moment.

he did indeed pay cash, sold it for £720 and all it cost me was a measly 100 quid, pity it's not always that easy.

They love a 505 in Africa - if it isn't a W123 Benz, Renault 4 or 12, it's a 505.
Great project, though. Can't wait to see the results. Ready for the RR show, sir?
