Welcome aboard bigrod & Stooby got a new power supply today from company next door at work, industrial power specialists for vehicles (fire trucks etc) 20Amp computerised charger, got it nett price, £58.00 so happy with that, works lovely too Picked up my axle casing tonight from the media blasters, mmmmmm...clean....mmmmmm Did a bit of final welding on it tonight, so a light skim of filler over the joints where it was narrowed to tidy it up a bit, then a nice gloss finish on that too. Dropped off a load more bits to be cleaned and powder coated, cheaper and easier than painting, especially for the awkward shaped pieces. Also re-painted my teardrop rear lights, the original paint was thinner than Kate Moss on a diet, so 2 coats of epoxy and 2 of gloss saw them looking rather glam

Axle is undergoing prep work now, its a fiddly 'curse word added some bits of filler tonight, and some seam sealer to tidy up any sharp edges around the brackets for paint. Another little job on the list is this rear 'third' brake lamp and number plate lamp. This was originally the only lamp on Anglia's before they introduced lamps on the rear wings, and it normally has some plastic rivited to the bottom for the 'window' for the number plate lighting. This usually melts pretty quickly from the heat of the bulb and they rust pretty bad. I modified my original one (black part) by welding up the sides of the window to create a much smaller hole so I could bond a piece of glass in there instead, but recently I found a brand new old stock cover, result! This did not have any lamp window in it, so a quick 20 mins with the dremel and it now has a small new window hole in it. This will be painted in the next couple of days.

And axle in primer, Axle is now glossed up, yummee ;D I saw the top pic and thought "thats not a bad shine for on an axle casing" thinking it was the top coat lol. Looks bloody brilliant. Matt

Shouldn't those coilovers be glass black also? Would be cool to look at any point on the car and the component would be glossy black

JP, they will be eventually, but they are Eibach springs, so free spring exchange till I get the correct poundage as long as they are in 'as new' condition. As soon as that is sorted they will be powder coated. All parts will be either gloss black or met silver.
Oldbus, depends on how much you'd pay me ;-)

In answer to your question "I wonder if anyone still reads this?"... I think the answer is a definite YES.. but! Noone comments cos it doesnt look like you need encouragement! People are more likely to rally a home builder than a pro.
(All this is a massive compliment by the way)

Been busy painting bits recently, so they are nicely wrapped up and packed away safely now. Time to put the flip front back on and do the final fitting. I decided to chop out the recesses in the glass for the headlamp bowls as mine use the chrome stands, so there was a lot of 'air' between the lamp & the nut. I glassed 4 layers of matt across the back first, and also chopped off the lamp mounts on the tube frame as they were not in the right place and were stressing the front. I then ground out the bowls and added another 6 graduated layers in the hollows. And then painted them with flowcoat, and rubbed them back, just a tiny bit of filler needed to finish now.

Thanks Elven. Remember the cleaned calipers? Well they look like this now I made new mounting plates for the flip front brace, so they are stronger and line up properly now.
