Yep glad i did spot it when i did, checked the oil level today and it was only just showing on the tip of the dipstick Anywhoo here's the offending thread, or should that be lack of. I shortened the oil pressure gauge adapter so the pressure switch was away from the bottom radiator hose and fan belt, always been to close for comfort. Then had a trip to my local tame aluminum welder. Leak now you swine. Just need to reassemble it now

20/09/2011Long time no update I'm pleased to say the Chevette is keeping all it's fluids on the inside and not coating the Queens highway which is always a good thing. Spent this morning with James Winstanley from Practical Performance Car Magazine for a photoshoot the photographer got some cracking shots on what has been a very wet and gloomy day. So everyone will soon be able to see the Chevette in all of it's glorious beigeness in print ;D

great news and well deserved Cheers Bud **************************************************************************************************************** 25/09/2011Made myself a piece of under bonnet bling, take one tie pin off ebay and one lump off ally from the scrap bin and a little bit of whittling later you get a nice new air filter clamping wotsit 8) On or more serious note, after the tragic events at York raceway last month when fellow NSCC racer Kasey Dixon Grainger lost his life in a finish line accident i had a good think of how to improve the safety of my car. My seats are only made of fiberglass and are bolted to the mounts in the floor with nothing to support the back of the seat, also my harness straps extend a long way from the back of the seat where the attach to the roll cage. In the event of a roll the seat could break up and with the belts being so long as soon as the seat failed i would no longer be strapped into the car. So out with the tube bender and some tube. I've welded in a tube behind the seats. The drivers seat back is now bolted to the new tube (needs a plate making to spread the load) And the belts are much shorter. The passenger seat is mounted further forward than the drivers seat so needs a spacer making and welding to the cage. I feel that's an improvement but if anyone disagrees please say

Good work, a flat plate on the roll cage bar to use 4 bolts to the seat is fairly std practice. Should be much safer in any unfortunate event now.

what tube bender are you using? I've been thinking about getting a pair of fiberglass seats like yours but they kind of look too fragile. That new tube looks like it will do the job! Anyway, great car! I might have to look for something similar for my kadett city!

Certainly feels a lot better, the seat has much less flex than before and I can get the belts a lot tighter which can only be a good thing what tube bender are you using? I've been using one of these tube benders.

I thought it was some other type of bender The bends actually look free of kinks but i guess that's not suitable for the type of work i was thinking of.

03/10/2011Spent the weekend at Shakespeare County Raceway for the final round of NSCC and ran a NPB of 13.90@100mph on my first run then ran gradually slower as the track temperature hit 90 degrees, then I lost the ability to change in to 3rd gear so went for a beer. Briefly bumped in to nightmares racing (sorry I didn't have time to chat more, nature called lol) Chuffed to bits with my time and a great way to end the season still more to come when i get the LSD sorted, i think it's good for a 13.5. Had a race against my mate in his model T and lost lol, he ran 8.7@171mph loony.
