yeeeeeeeeeessssssss! After work on thursday i pulled some spare rx3 struts a friend had given me (cheers Hayden!) out from under the truck and popped the calipers off- a quick cleanup expecting the worse and on with the track pump- POP! out slid the piston and its chromed surface looks great- and second caliper- POP. sweet- back on track. A good clean up yesterday and a new hard to get Mazda seal kit was whacked in place. ;D Next was the springs- 1.5 coils off each- Hayden had dropped his by 2 coils but he got a lighter 10 A when jacked up the coils need to be watched. With 1.5 out they just about hold in place- just to keep things easy in the future I have wired them in place too. The last front poly bushes were fitted and now once bay is painted I can whack the lot back in place. Today once coffee is downed its back to final smoothing down before the bay gets its top coats. My spray gear has turned up and I picked up the paint yeaterday. I'm booking in a fella to swing by next weekend to bond the screens back in place so i've gotta get it all smoothed down and ready around the rear screen too. whilst cleaning up the struts I found yet another stamped date to go on my list of indications that this car was built pre 73- A fella I know of will take all this sorta info and make a case to the dvla for tax free status- its looking good so far back to work....sanding/painting to do!

Wow! Just spent the last half hour reading through this thread. Great welding dedication and skills, sir.
Will be following this thread...
I recently bought a '77 Mazda 323, which I believe has the same floorpan as yours - I know alot of Kiwi's and Aussie's bolt in rx3 running gear to these. You don't seem to be having problems sourcing parts. Would you mind letting me know a few of your contacts, as there are a few parts I will be needing over the next few months...
Cheers, C.

herro to you to mr kim, I am sowi but my car is not for sale. I like it (thats like...not love!) too much. What car do you have Mr kim...? Hyundi? My car now has some colour in it... Its sooooooooo much nicer than I thought. I was beginning to think that it was going to be too bright but its just right. It will still be spotted a mile away but thats not a bad thing. Front suspension goes back in tomorrrow and then i'll turn the car around and prep around the rear screen. happy!

hey- thats a really cool little 323! Yeah- the rotarys of all sizes will drop in easily (but hey- they so small they'll fit into anything!) so go for it. There is a fella on exile rotorsport who has been fitting out his 323 with a 13B. He is mounting it really far back for even better weight distribution. Look at my link at bottom of post and see how easy it was to fit into a shoveit! All you need to do is buy a rotten old rx7- then you'll have all you will need. go onto exile- its down right now for a couple of days but- and the fellas will answer any questions! best of luck!

dunno yet I did that with spray cans. Much easier to get into tight spots etc. finish needs rubbing down- even running hand over it smooths it off. not sure if i might lacqour (spelt right?) over it like in chevette so its really easy to keep bay clean

Bloke came by today and bonded my screens back in. Ahhhhhhhhh Looks so much better. after a couple of weeks i'll pop out the trims and hes given me some special wax to fill in the gap so there will be no where for the water to sit. He said i'd done a good job of the suroundng metal work - shucks- which made his job easy. sweet. now its fill in dents here and there and paint the damn thing. Gonna have a beer 8)

Oh you tease!
Did you just dust around the windows with more spray cans so you could get the glass back in quicker?

Yeah- i am a tease. ;D I've painted in all the awkward places so later i can do a nice easy spray over with spray gun and lay on loads of paint. plust i can remount doors etc soon and paint the skins with the whole car. latest is... i have a dent in the drivers door...and some gunshots. Heres the dents... heres the shots. Through care anaylsis of the shots with my extensive collection of measuring equipment us here at CSI Oxfordshire have been able to deduce that the shots are infact from a .177 airgun. Through my expansive amount of experiance (shotting the f--k outta mums peg bin on the clothes line with my brothers over many years with various types of gun..) I am quite happy with decision.. measuring here... moving onto the dents- i have managed to starighten them out via use my large collection of precise panel beating tools.... .....some wood....bits big and small... heres the master at work. The doors are actually really good. Not much rust and its all underneath out of veiw- suits me. the skins are fine. Lots of waxoil to fill them up and they'll be fine I had to weld one bit up in corner- funny that one door is solid there and other gone..? story of this car. I'm now gonna sand doors back and paint around the edges then remount them. That'll get them off the floor and outta the way. ;D hopefully over weekend I'll get around to remounting the nosecone. alex

The car is now taking shape again! One great weekend full of mainly sunshine had both me and hannah busy like bees doing last bits of sanding to doors etc before remounting them both and plonking the wings back in place. Ahhhhh ;D sunshine! Then the nosecone- which fit up pretty bl--dy well indeed- thanks again to Ant for the replacement!...as when i went to remove the indicators from the old nose cone it fell apart- lots and lots of work would have been needed on it!! An extra set of paws helps... I took a while to try and get the door gaps right- they are about as good as they were when i got the car- not up to modern car standards for sure- but i'm happy enough. The sills have been dealt with in the past and they don't line up perfect but as this car (like all my cars) will be ACTUALLY DRIVEN AND USED LIKE A CAR SHOULD this is not a problem One day of shi--y english singlelane roads will have it looking nice and tatty..... I'm now trying make the very unflat boot lid flat again- its getting there. Lots of stuff to order now...

This is awesome! Its great to see japanese metal getting the works. Love the old Mazdas, they really had something going with the style and the rotary, so cool Having watched the Chevette you rotarised I'm sure this will be fantastic. Keep it up!
