IT RUNS!!!!
I spent the weekend tying up loose ends and sorting out the carb which needed the float bowls adjusting to get the right fuel level (visable through little windows on the nikki carb)
took ages to clean up all the gunk on outside. less time to remove all the emissions curse word!
once last bit of wiring was sorted for starter motor I was able to plonk in the front seats and carpet with new underlay for the that soft under foot cushty feeling
finally the inside was complete and I could sit in the seat and make brrmmm brrmm sounds.... (brappity brap sounds actually)
we swapped over one seat top from another spare as the original had a big split in the vinyl
Hannah spent ages carefully using nitromors to remove the rank black spray paint someone had covered the rear lights with... and now they look like this....! ....
By sunday night it was time to put some petrol in and start it up...
but the battery was dead!
I was knackered by now and had picked up a very nasty cold so slept and up early monday morning before work to hear this....
It was bl--dy loud so another muffler was ordered (id made room on system for another) plus I had forgotten to fit an earth strrap to engine- no wonder the starter turned over so slowly!
Monday afternoon I was in bed feeling proper ill. Tuesday the same. By tuesday afternoon after lots of sleep I felt better so back ubder the car to fit new muffler, earth strap.
Also i'd forgotten to put the vaccuum hose on for servo so it was sucking in air after carb...explains the bad idle. oh- and advance tubes for the dizzy...forgothem too. NOw better!
So tueday evening- wow..it started up bang on first turn. much nicer sound too...quite deep for a rotor motor.
last night we bleed the brakes but the pedal travel is quite long before they bite! I'm hoping its as I have not adjusted the rear shoes out far enough(manual adjusters on this baby) so i'll sort that tonight.
Mot is now on friday- littel jobs to do. I think its the brakes that will halt it if the pedal doesnt come up. Maybe getting a garage to pressure bleed it might help?
I'm sooooooo happy though that it runs and is almost there!...hopefully it'll be at RR show!
