Just come across this one. Absolutely blinding though somewhat disappointing having gone through 16 pages not to find a completed article at the end.
I won't hold that against you though. Looking forward to following the completion of your build.

hi there, very good job waiting for the final results.\m/ Just a question , i own a Mercedes 200 M115.923 engine like yours before the swap. The engine is in very good condition but I've always wanted something more from it without compromise the reliability and keep it as original as it can be.Can i put a low boost turbo with the stock pistons rods etc ??I was planning something like yours in the early pages, carburator and blow through setup...tnx for your time
Keep up the good work! Most Respect to you!

Hello, thanks for reading and raising the post from the dead!
Erm... well I still have the car, and the intention to continue with it... it's just that life is getting in the way currently! (I get distracted by other cars too, which doesn't help.)
Plans are being formulated, and I want to go back to this with fresh focus.

Must say I know what you mean life and car wise... got 4 cars I'm currently fiddling with. only One of which is running. Well hopefully soon we will see some more awesome progress!

I'm back on the bandwagon with my swap after a two-year hiatus.
the picasa album is populated again.
going megasquirt 2 instead of CIS. engine fits perfectly with the pan, oil filter housing and mount arms from the R107 on the M117 E55 but when the trans is on the back, I run into a lot of clearance issues still.
want to scratch build headers -- have a lead on who you got your flanges from? would save me a lot of time creating a CAD file and having them laser cut here. (although a cad file would be excellent as well).
moving along though.
get going on yours again man! need competition!

Sadly I've not managed to make progress on any of my projects - things are on hold until I can get the time. Frustrating! I'll take a look at your album to further frustrate me! Custom headers... the flanges I have were laser-cut, but I bought them along with the engine from RR member "Mr S". I would imagine that you could take the original cast iron manifolds off and have a machine shop follow the pattern without having to produce a CAD file? Maybe I'm wrong though...

perhaps I will PM Mr. S to see if he can post me a set of flanges (hell, I'd buy a dozen sets). here's to hoping you get some time soon! it's been too long. I am doing as much as I can, car is 35 miles away from my house now so its hard to find motivation sometimes, but I'll get there. when I'm rolling around on M117 power, I'll be sure to guilt trip you into finishing your car

looking good....
any fitment problems besides the exhaust?
what bits are needed besides donor engine?
still thinking a straight 6 is a lot easier but a v8 is so much nicer for my currently engine-less W114

lots of fitment stuff is a challenge.
R107 oil pan, mount arms, filter housing are a must. front K member has to be cut and notched forward.
722.4 trans is too big to fit flat in the trans tunnel in stock config, so I moved the engine forward about an inch to alleviate that issue, also to run heater hoses.
i6 is cake in a W115. I wanted brute force and a bit of a challenge.
exhaust will be a big hurdle with custom tig'd SS headers. left hand (drivers) side will be routed forward and around to the passenger (right) side to dump where the 240 used to.
out the back we have a pair of SLK55 AMG mufflers. quad AMG ovals are win.

An update?! After all this time?! New jobs and house moves to the other end of the country have meant that my projects have been on hold for a long while. It's taken time to sort out workshop facilities and get everything sorted out, but the ball is rolling once! I've had a long time to think about my cars, and I'll be taking a slightly different direction with this one. For one, it'll be a more in-depth rebuild, not least because values of these cars have gone up quite a bit over the past few years, so it deserves a thorough restoration. Also, I've had this car 12 years. It's part of me! There are other changes which I don't want to announce from the start. Mostly because I'm not 100% decided on some aspects, but also because I don't want to make big announcements before they're happening - you'll just have to bear with me! As we're heading in a new direction with an in-depth restoration, I'll be starting a new thread and link back to this one for reference. The project is still a slow-burner but hopefully it'll be progressing a little more quickly than over the past couple of years! New build thread can be found here!
