These cars have loads of room under the bonnet and between the strut mounts for a small block V8.....i know its predictable but because its all alloy the Rover/Buick would be sort of the right era to slot in....and light enough......At the same time Chrysler took over control of Rootes in the late 60's they canned the Sunbeam Tiger because it had the Ford V8 and there wasnt the room in the Tiger to fit a Chrysler V8.......Shame! If only the Rapiers had been offered with a V8 then it might have been more popular and stood a chance against the Capri 3000GT of the same period! Anyway, for the time being i will enjoy the snorty Holbay 1725 and tinker with the double webers......loads of fun! Thanks for the input...... Ps. any one seen any wider steels on ebay with the same PCD as an early ford or Rootes......?

Love the car, especially the H120, with the subtle boot lid, If you want to put a V8 in it, the SBF has to be a better option, its smaller than the RV8, and a damn sight cheaper to build a performance engine for, put a set of aftermarket ally heads on it and the weight is very nearly the same as the RV8, you know it makes sense. ;D as steels, in 13s rootes and Ford are about it, some Austins, but older versions have the same pcd, I would be tempted to get a set banded, use a set of 1600E rostyles which IMO are slightly better looking and get them banded to suit Tuff as fook,!!!!!!!!! ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D You probably know this already, but-----If you change over from Rootes wheels to Ford, use ford wheel nuts, the seat for the nuts on Rootes cars is radiused, and Fords are tapered. get them wrong and the nuts keep coming undone!!!

Thanks for the info, i hadnt realised the ford small block was smaller than the Rover.......I was only thinking of the Rover option cause i had one in a LandRover 90 and it was a nice lazy engine....and no problems over 7 years. Thanks for the advice on the Ford wheel nuts! I will keep an eye out! Next project.....Polybush allround and rejet the carbs to suit a nice set of K&N's ive got in the shed! (i think i need to go 1 step richer all round on the jets)

(i think I need to go 1 step richer all round on the jets) I think the only dimension where the SBF is bigger is in length, against the P5/6 short waterpump version, certainly shorter than the Land/Range rover engines, I'm sure I have seen short pumps for the SBF but I cant remember where,

100% agreed. Look at the side profile, and lines, it is a beauty. Must have blown people away when it was launched. Drop is perfect. These car are a forgotten gem..... FACT You've done a great job on the lowering. You looking at going the Holbay route? She looks spot on
