That looks like the Dover ferry terminal. It was indeed Where on earth did you get those period covers from! I picked them up off Ebay (or maybe a classified on here?) over the winter, knowing they were likely to see use this summer. A couple of the clips were missing but were easy to make with a bit of stainless sheet and some elastic. I don't know if its because my sealed beams are also (old) Lucas but they worked fantastically well. We only really did one night time journey but they clearly threw the beam across towards the pavement side.

No worries bolleaux, we had to shelve the original plans and stick slightly closer to home. pid, sadly due to the way it opens up (its a trailer tent and the box slides across to create more flat floor) there's nothing I can do about its ride height. Can't even fit any cool looking 10" wheels as there is no room for anything but standard 8" trailer wheels.

Some time last winter I saw some wheels on Ebay that I thought would make better 'winter' wheels than those I've been using for the last couple of cold seasons (the green wheels with Far Eastern made narrow band whitewalls), particularly if I got hold of some proper rubber for them. They were around the corner from a mate's in Birmingham so he picked them up for me and I eventually got them some months later. Yup, four pretty good but slightly scuzzy 14" Citroen BX steels. It took a while but I eventually worked out what to do with them to make them look a bit more suitable. First they were painted black. This was more hassle than I'd imagined as two of them had paint reactions - something on the wheels didn't like the new paint. Anyway, after more time than I'd originally intended to take over that stage I dug out my useful 'jig' Bolt on wheel, spin quickly, use same combination of green and gold metalflake spraycans as previously. Ta daa! Doing it under poor lighting conditions was not ideal and while I was happy with two of them I got a nasty run in the flake on another and the forth was OK but maybe needed some more of the bling. So I rubbed down the run, reapplied some black and then had another go today with the green and gold. I suspect they won't all quite match (as a result of doing it in the bad light rather than outside) but should now be OK. Had time for a quick look-see on the car. I won a set of proper Bridgestone winter tyres a few weeks ago in the same size as I run on the chrome 14s (Many thanks to 'Mike' and 'Barrett' for their help with the pony express) so all I've got to do now is get them fitted but that will probably have to wait until next week.

Fogged steels? Great success!
Maybe some little bullet caps to finish?

You are the man that thinkus outer the box. Everything has potential as they say, even if it's only the wheels! Can't wait to see these fitted up, they look superb.
