been keeping an eye on this most banger racers are good people ,o.k so they do distroy old cars but surly it's better to see them go out in a blaze of glory than just run down to the local scrap yard and getting £20 for a ton of comtaminated scrap, i am a mopar fan and i do think that this was tragic just got to say one thing to the banger comuntiy IF your not sure about it ,and some undisirable has offered it to you at what can only be discribed as a steal, take his number OR buy it & report it to the police IF it is stolen i'm sure the curent owner would be more than willing to pay the £100 to get it back rather than be heartbroken to see it smashed to bits , having said that vin plates should be checked before your allowed to race and if they're removed then you shouldn't be able to race, thats my two pence had a gold mk2 grandma , a local banger let me pinch the wings and bonnet off a good gold one in his yard in retern for the curse word ones off mine got offered m1 grandma ghia by banger racer still had ticket on it and i think its still in one bit ,he's also got zepher/zodiac farman estate that i think he would sell to an retro head make your own mind up , whoever pinced the motor probably had a nice caravan to live in !

Sorry, i don't wish to cause any offence, but Banger Racing IMO, is senseless vandalism, and IS a disgrace to be called a form of motorsport at all. It is not Motorsport, it is brainless dodgems for adults. quote] we get a buzz out of racing old cars that are worth nothing because they are so rotten, bit like you lot must when restoring your cars and looking at the hard work you have put in to them. Just because Banger racers 'kill' cars don't mean they are not intrested/owners of classics. I'm intrested in XR3i's (ok so not a classic) n also enjoy spending my money buying stuff and hopefully soon buying a XR3 (cant at moment due to insurence costs). You want us Banger racer's to help you out, but why should we if you are going to call us all the names under the sun? and slag are hobby off. Isnt it about time we started working together and trying to find the scum that nicked this car? Cheers Chris. Why should you help us? Because stealing is wrong!!!!! You Know the driver did not steal the car, ok then, hows about we start blaming you for all the classic cars that have gone missing out of Banger drivers yards? STEALING IS WRONG! so why should we help a bunch of thiefs? Chris.

Ha ha, yeah all those racers who've had piles of curse word stolen and ruthlessly restored, then the cheeky thieves put pictures of these immaculate stolen bangers on the net, just to rub it in. Good one! ;D Chris, I'm not having a go at you, and my cousin's a banger racer who helps me out a lot - I've nothing against banger racing at all. But this is dragging on. We all know we've got to work together to sort this out, so let's not argue any more. Think what any non-car enthusiasts stumbling across this thread would think - that we're ALL idiots. Reminds me, I need to get some thread lock on the way home....

Feel so sorry for the owner...being into the older car, currently fixing up a mk1 mexico and have an AE86 Corolla, but also race Saloon stox on the Short Ovals.. Hate to see this sort of thing happening especially with cars that don't belong on track.. If a driver buys it with his hard earned cash its up to him what he does with it. Alot of blame should rest with the driver in this case.. Car was worth more that £100... Were the keys in it... All abit hard to swallow that it was bought 100% thinking all was well! The Story about the Datsun Coupe, such a lovely car and a waste to be treated like that..

As a point of interest, it is "believed" that the Plymouth was nicked using a grab lorry. I don't know anything much about the circumstances of the theft but the owners mate just told me it was definitely targetted to be nicked as they came with a flat bed truck & lift to take it.

All the kids round here are tooled up with Flatbeds and Hiabs for just such activites .... would cost them almost their entire £100 gain in diesel to nick it in the first place Seriously If that is the case Alistair then that puts a massively different slant on the situation

Just a suggestion, if you really wanna sell your CROWN wagon then post up an advert in the For sale / wanted board - it'll have a far wider audience than it will here! Hope it gets a good home....

Not suggesting that the chaps who raced it stole it just because they own a flatbed. Thats not even "circumstantial". Its about as much use as saying that they guys who stole it had two legs really. Just making the point that its unlikely to have been kids that nicked it. Where its been since theft and race is only speculation.
Is this CROWN wagon the green one BTW? Thought there was some strange thing over the ownership on that car?

Ah, there was a green CROWN wagon about a '73 which was on here a while ago but there was a funny story (which I don;t recall the details of) about who actually owned it. Pics of your wagon would be cool

The stolen section on R-R is a good idea. Thanks David
Can we keep these threads for sightings, info and appeals please. I know I've been guilty of getting a bit irate myself on this issue, but as has been pointed out previously we need to move on from ranting and mudslinging and try and work together to stop these thefts.
Thanks guys.
