Kind of sort of not really an update but I thought I'd post it anyway! Basically, I attached the first fence panel that was missing in the last picture, then I put a load of soil from the front garden 'mountain' down the side of the wall (in front of the fence) to make the ground levelish... Oh, and I put the truck up on there too, just because I could

Got those lovely leather volvo seats fitted yet? Hehe, not yet buddy, they're waiting for the full rebuild of the truck, after the garage is built. They're currently snuggled up in my other garage - still not sure if I'll make a couple of 'pondering chairs' out of them or bung them in the truck... Time will tell

Top project here, are you doing your own brick work. Would a lot quicker if you used blocks instead of bricks after the dampcourse and then render it.

Ah well, reality's caught up with me and there is no way I'm gonna have time to finish this on my own now - time is against me, especially with my work being as busy as it is this year!
So I'm on the lookout for a brickie who'll give me a good price - I've asked a couple of people, but if anyone else knows any brickies that wouldn't mind a job like this, then let me know!

Well, I've scraped a few quid together and I've got a few builders/brickies coming round over the next few days to give me quotes... Wonder how much it'll cost - anyone got any rough ideas of what to expect?

www.mybuilder.com - put up details of the job, even a link to this thread, and you should get plenty of quotes. Some are pie in the sky, I was getting quoted £3k for a £500 kitchen fitting job, but after a day or 2 the sensible quoters appear. Dead handy website.

Well, after a whole bunch of quotes (including one local builder who wanted to charge £7k and take 8 weeks to do it - that's around a fiver per brick/block laid!!!), and after an evening of mojo-restoration with 2002gimp coming round to help, we've decided that we're not going to line any builders' pockets and we're going to do it ourselves! The blue bricks are all down round the back now, just another 50 or so to put down on the left hand side, then the DPC can go down and the real building can begin! Evenings and weekends only mind, still can't take any time off work for the next couple of months...!

i did mine like that , a mate came and built up the four corners so i had a good amount of filling in to do then i made two mixes spread them on spot boards down the length of both walls then filled the gaps 100 bricks took me a couple of hours, two weeks of evenings and a full weekend i did a 58 x16 double skinned garage, however that wa nearly two years ago and the roof still isnt on
