On Saturday evening and again on the Sunday I found something that I'd not seen for a while, the original spirit of Retro Rides.
It was alive and well and lurking here over the past couple of years. It is a difficult thing to capture, but now I remembered where it was I'll make sure that it get spread on the board again. Expect a long winded post about it soon.
In the mean time :
!THANK YOU!
To everyone that came over the weekend and made the event so much fun. Thank you also to Keefy, Tash, Hen, Simon and Ian for helping us do the camping and getting cars into the site. Also OldBus and GTVSaviour for helping me and Simon lay out club areas.
Also to BodieAndDoyle for letting me use his BMX... hardest seat on earth = bruised backside!

I agree with Hotwire, good point, its true. theres loads of great people on here, and fantastic those making effort. Most of us are singing the same tune. Lots lost in translation in text and smilies on here, so RRG provided the perfect 'Holiday' IMO. Good work organisers, and ALL who kept that spirit alive.

it doesn't matter if it's a Morris Marina or a Toyota Celica - it's what you do with it that counts

Like no other car show on earth, just the friendliest and most inspiring event you could hope to find MASSIVE thankyou to ALL of the organisers for what must have been a hell of a lot of effort. Congratulations for making it the success that it was

What can I say? Fantastic event, well done to the organisers and attendees, it was amazing.
Like a few people said at the time "It's like the forum, but in real life!"
Absolute pleasure to meet new people and catch up with the ones I already know. I'm totally knackered today, my internal organs are on the critical list and I'm full of inspiration again. Couldn't ask for more.

Well done all
i would love to have come along, but i hit financial, and more importantly, mental exhaustion last weekend, so had to drop some things from my agenda for fear of a breakdown!

^^^^^^^What everyone's said^^^^^^^^ I was genuinely sad last night that it was all over, I'm glad that it exceeded virtually everyone's expectations. Every time I saw HW he had a big 5hit-eating grin on his face. I am utterly, utterly drained today, having partied harder than any 43 year old fat ba**ard has a right to. Sanatogen Hardcore FTW.

I would like to echo what everyone else has said, a most excellent day out, had a thoroughly excellent day out. I've got a whole bunch of pics, but can't 'do' them yet as my computer is b0rked. Great venue & excellent organisation But it's the people who really make it, such a nice 'vibe' to the proceedings. Gaydon was an excellent place IMO, not only do you have the totally great museum (which kept Poglet Maximus entertained... Top Trumps FTW), but the facilities made a big difference (clean bogs, decent non-greasy grub, beer on tap etc). It was touch-and-go as to whether I'd make it... saturday afternoon the car was still minus inportant stuff, like wheels and suspension, and most of the interior was scattered over a 10ft blast radius. But it was well worth it, looking forward to the next one

Hotwire, I think I've figured out where you found that spirit. Somewhere in that gap between your tyres and wheelarches? Look forward to the long post..
