right, done a little over the weekend. pulled the rear bumper which needed drilling off! and we can see how rogered the back end is- lovely. fitted an e28 door on, which I have now put on five times pattern sills don't have enough recess for the front lower coner of the door, so I opened it and bent the door hammered the £$%^ out of it and rewelded the recess, its almost perfect.... anyway the arch is tacked on there. mmmmm, fresh steel I'm in love with my tool S. dirty minds. I picked this 1960's pollard pillar drill up from andover the other weekend, why would you buy a new sealey when you can buy this? thats the depth scale. I was playing with the camera, and its my thread thats the handle of my polisher. well, thats the workshop equipment out the way; back to the car ;D thats the inner sill mostly welded up. leaving the end until I do the inner rear arch. arch all fitted and smoothed out. I used my tig for much of it as I wanted to minimize panel distortion. thats it so far

Didnt know you had this!
Makes my e12 look minty ;D
I bought a pair of wings from a guy with a black e12 m535i.
The M5 was on its wheels, on mud and the roof was still about waste height, it was that fubard! Should have got teh gear knob though, it had been half eaten by rats and was covered in teeth marks ;D

wow! this looks like tons of work . . respect for tackle it! . . . M535i are very cool . . but I prefer the early E12's . . so I'm happy with my 525 (maybe there's gonna be a M88 conversion on it's way . .) . . and if I'm seeing those pictures . . I'm happy that it doesn't have that much rust (actually, it has close to none . . . ;D . .)

thanks people VW- your right- yours is mint compared to this. infact you could probably pull one out of the sea thats wrapped round a lamp post in better nick ;D pass on details to tonybmw of that black M, sure it be nice to know the fate of another one for the register boogieman- it is a lot of work, but I kind of enjoy it. small rear light e12s are great, m535i's were all based on facelifted cars though I do have an early flat front bonnet for mine though oh, and E12 with an m102 is the win IMO

Didn't know that E28 doors are possible to fit on an E12? Is that true for the front doors too? Do they share any other panels?

I just did a write up on my website about that very subject, yes they do fit, you can find out more at the following link www.tonybmw.co.uk/pages/project_b/e28doors.htmlThey also share floor pans, boot floor, roof panels, windscreen surrounds and glass, nothing mechanical though springs to mind VW - yes please to info about the black M535i, so that I can add the detail to the register Tony

I bought a pair of wings from ebay and the car was in his yard.

So basically, one can say that the E28 are an E12 with revised front and rear end styling and mechanics? Now, don't take this too seriosly, but it is quite a fun fact that a car that was intended to compete with the W115, of course with a lot of changes, still were produced to compete with the W124 in 1987. Nice project BTW, I've started to like old BMWs lately, from the E34 and backwards...

That engine does not look like an Alpina, certainly not the Turbo model anyway, could have been swapped out I suppose
What area is it in and do you have a contact number
Cheers
