Why aren't you keeping it on fuel injection? Surely the stock S2000 injection system would have made more power with far better fuel economy than carbs. modern cars are very finely tuned to exhausts etc and as i cant run a standard exhaust or manifold it would upset the running. it would need an aftermarket ecu or piggyback system that wont be cheap then i'll need to pay someone to set it up. thats after the nightmare of all the wiring and fuel system just to get it running. i figured it will be a lot less wiring (i'll just need a stand alone ignition system) and a lot less hassle just fitting carbs. i can tune carbs no problem plus they will sound nice as well as for the vtec there are a few ways to do this. either the computerised ignition system will have an rpm take off for activating a relay or i could use a shift light to activate a relay or i could just use a thottle switch so it just comes in whenever at over half throttle. it's only a live feed needed to activate the vtec solonoid so pretty simple really. many people think vtec will upset the carbs. i don't think it'll upset them enough to worry about. i'll just jet it to work . also there is nothing to say that carbs will knock power off. the thing that will upset power is runner length if iv'e got that wrong (easily adjusted with different trumpet lengths) carb size (but from what i read smaller chokes will help midrange) or if the exhaust manifold doesn't do it's job properly scavanging. the book in this link is where i'm getting all my information from re inlet manifod design etc and the guy has done back to back carb and fuel injection testing with no difference in power output. fuel injection is better for drivability and smoothness so is usually favored but in my case i think the price of a new pair of carbs (with good discount) and the fact the inlet manifold will have only set me back about £120 i'm willing to take a chance and make it all work ;D

just knocked this up from a bit of ally. it'll tidy up the manifold and make everything look straighter as the runners are at a bit of an angle.

If I did this, it'd be an absolute disaster. It looks amazing, and good luck with getting it completed.

cheers. now the not so easy bit. iv'e got to remove the engine and gearbox then remove the body, then fit the engine and gearbox to the chassis so i can finish making the exhaust manifold and mod the chassis. iv'e been pointed in the direction of one of these to control the ignition. it looks absolutly perfect . it'll control the standard S2000 on plug coils as well as being able to control vtec but it has so much more as well. it'll control the fuel pumps, rad fan, it also has a shiftlight control, it'll feed the rev counter and should run off the standard S2000 crank sensor (although the trigger wheel may need changing) and so many other things i shouldn't need like traction control ;D . doesn't look too silly expencive either.

the rear axle is a 5 link set up from standard so it'll easily take a different axle. the Mazdat/Ford axle is 1 1/4 inches too wide otherwise i'll have taken that one back of the Datsun before i sold it.
i'll be using a Ford Atlas axle. i already have a LSD and various other bits and being a popular axle there are always bits available and will be for years to come.
as for the brakes i'll probably just use the standard set up for now with competition pads and possibly changing the calipers to Wilwoods or the such like. air cooling ducts can be mounted into the disc dirt shield. i plan to use 13inch wheels so can't go too big.

made and fitted the nylon bushes for the lower arms and checking the upper wishbones i felt the weak point will be where the bush outer sleves are fitted to the wishbone. they are only welded at the rear so there is only a thin sliver of metal about 1/4 inch each side holding it together. so i put in a couple more welds at the front of the sleve and welded a strip of metal in to give it some added strength some bits will be plated and the others are already painted silver so any cracks that could appear are easier to spot. special order shocks are being made
