After buying the W123 and another Mini in the same weekend a while back, I promised myself no more cars. I probably should have co-incided stopping looking at ebay and the free ads with that plan, but alas it has led to me owning this..,. '79 350SE, 115k on the clock, gun metal grey, black leather, cruise and the original philips cassette deck! To say I'm delighted is an understatement. There is a little rust, the steering is past vague and just dangerous, most of the lights don't work & there is some dodgy wiring on the coil but... meh ;D

No hydro's for me at the moment! I don't think it could handle the bouncing Plans are just to get it onto the road. I think it's pretty cool as it is, lowering it too much may make it look ridiculous. I can't believe I just said that!!!

Where did you see it advertised. Reason I ask is I was in Ireland 2 weeks ago and saw one advertised in an ad paper that I happened to look through. The same one?
PS More pictures please I love these!

I used to have this. The vagueness of the steering on mine was a terrifying match for the grunt the v8 had. I got 15mpg but it was a good laugh.

So you're saying the plan is Airbags then with a MAD V8? Then taking it to RR09

Hahaha I'd love 'bags but I don't know if the budget would stretch - maybe I should sell some cars The car has lots of electrical issues... the only electrics that work are the headlights. I think this may have something to do with a duff ignition switch though, as everything that works off the ignition.... doesn't work! The other problem is that it's not classed as a "classic" over here until November when it hits 30 years old. That means 3 months tax is €450 as opposed to €48 for a year from November!!!! So... do I get the 115 on the road and store the 116 til November, or do I sell the 115 and swallow the tax cost for 3 months on the 116?! SS - I'll keep my eye out for a derv estate for ya - quite liking w123 estates at the mo - fancy a 7 seater but I really have to stop looking for cars!!!

Use one of the minis for a few months. in that time you could have the Airbags on. I take it that it already has the 3.5 V8?

Yup - already has the V8. One of the Minis is not road legal - it's a racing car, and the other one is a shell with an engine!
I have a daily company car, so it isn't a problem in that respect, but I'd love to have 1 of the two mercs done to roll in at the weekends!!

If you have to sell any of them I'd sell the 230.4 The other two are cooler imo.

The coup's already sold! I suppose the 230.4 will be the one to go. As long as I can make the electrics work in the 350!
