I kinda knew there were going to be horrors lurking, Its been in the north of Scotland it's whole life and for two years it was up to it's sills in mud in a field!! Still cheaper than buying another one and I get 11 years of memories with it! Its deffo a heart not a head thing though. It does make a difference when the car means something to you and it is an awesome car. If it was mine I'd have done the same. I had similiar grot issues in my old BMW m535i but I'd only had it for 6 months and it gave me nothing but grief for those 6 months. I couldn't face spending all that money getting the welding done on it when it quite obviously hated me.

Well, i to a drive down to see the old girl yesterday and she has definitely turned a corner. New wish bones on, old rotten subframe removed and new one having new bushes fitted thanks to Pete Reeve at www.quattrocorner.com, he has to be one of the best Quattro parts suppliers anywhere. Discs to be replaced and calipers to be refurbished Loads of cool cars there again Going to be a rally car 280 Brooklands Lovely Stag So not long before she looks like a real car again

Just a tiny update, popped down to see her today, she's just waiting for paint now!! Odd reflections make the new subframe look half primered WooHoo :-)

You need to find one of the original VAG stickers for the back window- "8 year corrosion perforation warranty" ...mind, that'd only have taken it up to M reg! Good job, better than it getting parked up in the Abandoned Ones thread --Phli

That's going to be beautiful, stunning cars.
I have a similar vintage Mercedes 190 and it's the same - rusts for fun now!

Thanks for the comments guys, its a big boost when you hear others like your car. I'm in the process of convincing my pal to get a thread done on his car. It was done by the same guy thats doing mine. Its a proper little hillclimb car that is road legal. 1380 A series by Oselli i think.

Very nice car - looks like the restoration's been very thorough!
Are you in Edinburgh? I saw a Quattro in a similar colour on London Road a couple of months ago - guess it can't have been yours though if it's been in the garage all this time!

I'm not in Edinburgh although i was born there. Its just the car that gets the pleasure of staying there, i have to make do with Aberdeen.
