wtf is a Rover 16 - 6 light I here you ask? ;D Well they look like this... ..or should I say they should do, ours looks more like a big jigsaw puzzle but more of that later. Mrs oldbus and I were after a Setra coach to convert to a camper but they´re way out of our price range unfortunately so i´d basically planned on finishing Johns´van and helping my son get his T4 back on the road to keep me out of mischief. Well that was the cunning plan until this advert came up on here.....
So there I was sat in the office at home looking at the Rover pics when the misses came in to check i´m not buying any more curse word with a brew. That looks nice she says what is it? It´s a 1947 Rover 16 - 6 light me says and look here´s one that´s for sale... That´ll keep you busy for a while she said smiling, so after dropping Dave (Roadracer) a PM I gave the owner a bell and did what I swore I would never do... ......buy a garage full of bits over the phone. .....more later ;D

Looks really cool, bags of potentioal. What you got planned for it? To be honest mate i´m not that sure. The obvious Hotrod conversion will have to wait as the TÜV won´t be having any of that, so i´ll probably have to restore it back to more or less original condition first, register it on my collectors tradeplate and then have another think about it I can´t see it winning any prizes at Rover club meets in the future though Fantastic, Dave. So it's back at Oldbus towers now? Yes mate, dragged it home from Gloucestershire yesterday ;D dave, dave, dave..... your unbelievable! what happened to the nice jag? I thought that was supposed to be the next project? or did you get rid of that? something tells me you'll be repeating the cycle for many decades to come tis a nice buy though I like it very much! The Jag is parked up in my mates barn waiting for me to get my finger out. I´m in no hurry with the Jag and fancied something different to the usual 60´s and 70´s stuff I normally get up to. Oh and the Rover is not my next project mate, this will be just ticking over in the background....our next project is a MK1 Fiesta RWD Cossy 24V trackcar toy but more of that in another thread ;D Back to the Rover. The story behind the Rover is that the seller (hi Don, if you´re reading) pulled it out of some garages that were being demolished nearly twenty years ago. It was looking a bit sorry for itself and after talking to the old lady that was having the garages demolished she said that she knew nothing about the car, it must have belonged to her husband, and he died thirty years previously This is what it looked like back in 1990..... Don went on to spend lots of time and money overhauling the engine, getting the frame blasted and painted, the bodywork too only for the real world ( incl. divorces and problems with his company) getting in the way. i´ve got loads of original pics from the restauration but i´ll have to scan them in first.. So with a price agreed and travel arrangements sorted my son Alex and I drove over to Grizz´s in Rochester Friday evening. After fish & chips and a good night´s kip (thanks again for putting us up again mate) we drove over to Fromebridge in Gloucestershire Saturday morning to go and see what i´d bought over the phone. No surprises, it was exactly as it had been described and looked a bit like this.. I got to test our brand new all singing and dancing electric winch... The car was loaded very quickly and before we started filling it with all the bits we fitted the rear seat and had a brew in the back. Lump in throat time for Don We then started loading the car up and covering it so that it wouldn´t get wet. We had some VIP help too We then drove back to Folkestone to catch the eveing train back to Calais and then blasted the 600km´s back to oldbus garages only stopping for diesel. After a couple of hours kip yesterday it was time to sweet talk the misses into believing I got a good deal... I think she bought it i´ll be taking off the body and stripping the frame again as it´s been parked up for the last 13 years but at least I don´t have to start from scratch..... as i´m busy for the next 6 months don´t expect too many updates in the near future, i´ll be collecting ideas and parts though

So, you've dragged a shell and pieces of an old English car a somewhat silly distance (with R-R celebrity help*) in order of it to become a long term, not to be touched for a while project, in Germany. Inverse Deja-vu! *Who would win? Bryn or KevfW? Only one way to find out! Fight!

Glad the pics are in the open now Dave.
Well done to Alex this time for helping you.
Ulla does look very chuffed with the car you bought her.
Looking forward more to the Mk1 Fiesta 24V in RWD shape when you start building it.

Congratulations! Looking forward to seeing it in all its restored glory at RRG10 (after all its long term by your standards, right ;-)) LOL, RRG10, i´ll be lucky having Johns´van done by then mate. No seriously Siert the Rover will take a few years mate, no hurry with this one and no future "has to be done by" dates either... Oh my. I'm guessing that it won't be remaining stock... To start off it will have to be Ian I can see you making a nice car out of this. Thanks mate, hope so. Wow! Good stuff, i'll keep an eye on this one. Are they bike tyres? They certainly are, they were the only tyres the tyrefitters had that would fit - can´t be that many cars out there on bike tyres eh? So, you've dragged a shell and pieces of an old English car a somewhat silly distance (with R-R celebrity help*) in order of it to become a long term, not to be touched for a while project, in Germany. Inverse Deja-vu! *Who would win? Bryn or KevfW? Only one way to find out! Fight!I knew you´d approve Seth ;D love the gratuitous capri pic lmao put the jag bits under the rover Funny you should mention the Jag, my mate said the same thing...don´t think the TÜV will approve though Mark. Oh and the Capri had to give up it´s comfy parking space in the carport for the Rover - I must tidy up the warehouse at work so that I can get the Capri in out of the weather for the winter. What ya planning? Just a faithful restoration? Awesome looking thing btw I think the restoration will be a combination of what I can get over here, partswise, and what I can get away with to get it through the classic car engineers report. I want to keep the body and frame original ish, i´ll definately be trying to save the old leather seats and can see me updating the engine and brakes once it´s passed its test. This is going to be interesting! Hope so, i´ve never had anything this old before, I haven´t the foggiest how these things work and don´t even no what´s missing let alone know how to fix it all This is going to be interesting! Well, it now belongs to Dave..... This is a bit of an understatement Looking froward to updates when they come...... ;D Cheers Pete, hope I can live up to your expectations ;D Glad the pics are in the open now Dave. Well done to Alex this time for helping you. Ulla does look very chuffed with the car you bought her. Looking forward more to the Mk1 Fiesta 24V in RWD shape when you start building it. Cheers Rian, but I think she´s more interested in the Fiesta mate Looks like a great starting point, looks quite tiny for a classic too! Funny you should mention it´s size, the misses´first question was am I going to be able to fit in it? Definately no roof chops happening here then
